Getting to sit at the bar is fun because it offers a live view of the sushi production and my sushi chef even handed me my plate right over the bar. The nigiri had healthy portions of fish and prices were pretty reasonable, especially for the variety of options.
The interior was clean and well kept. Overall a very good experience.
The menu had some good sushi options and only a few Korean dishes which was disappointing as their name says Japanese – Korean cuisine.
The sushi had really good flavor and combination of ingredients, rice in one roll was little hard as if it sat out, but the others were fine. We also had the Bulgogi which is very common Korean dish. It was average, smaller than a normal portion when you visit a Korean restaurant.
Service was great, the server was all over it and very helpful.
I got the sushi box pictured below for under $17 which is a great price for what you get and downtown prices!
Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience my family and I have had here. We’ve visited this restaurant about four times and spent a total of $523.93 on food and tips (based on my Excel sheet). Our most recent visit was the one that ensured we won’t be returning.
The owner’s attitude was noticeably selective toward certain tables and customers, which made the experience uncomfortable. As a veteran and an educated individual, I don’t focus on identity issues, but this situation was jarring enough that my wife wanted to leave due to how we were treated.
Because of that experience, we will no longer be dining here. In my opinion, you’re better off getting fresh sushi from Publix, where the service and attitude are far more welcoming.
The restaurant is small, but not in a bad way. It’s a cozy feeling and it has a good ambiance to it. We were seated immediately and surprised by all of the options. The bar seems like the best seat in the house where you get to watch the sushi being made, however we opted for a table.
We started with the Chicken Yakitori which was stellar and I would love a whole entree of just this chicken, that’s how good it was!
My husband is not a sushi eater, so he always goes for Chicken Katsu. He enjoyed his entree, miso, but was a little taken back by the salad included. This was mainly because we’re used to the familiar ginger-carrot dressing that is usually included at sushi restaurants. He said it tested a lot more peppery and more like mayo than he was used to. Nonetheless, he still cleared that bowl!
I ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll which was delicious, albeit a bit small in the portion sizing than I’m used to for the price.
I also ordered the Jaeyook Bokkeum, which is a Korean spicy marinated pork. I was happy to see more Korean food on the menu and wasn’t expecting that. I was told it was about comparable in spice to a medium wing. As someone who moved here from Buffalo, NY, I would say it’s a little bit less than a true medium. Enough to make your lips feel a bit warm, but the flavors were great. I would get more in a heartbeat if my stomach could fit all the meat on the plate they serve it on. It also comes with a side of rice if you needed something to help cool your mouth down if you like spice but aren’t quite equipped to handle it.
I always love to see what people order here while eating and it is overwhelmingly the bento boxes. Because this was already such a fantastic outing, I think that will be on the docket for the next visit!
