They close earlier if there are no customers past 10:30pish, so keep that in mind (workers need to sleep too!)

Ordered the shishamo, excellent. Asahi on draft. Very authentic izakaya feel, fun staff.

Good service but food is okay. Yakisoba was flavorful but very little meat. Ordered grilled fish to have it alongside the noodles but it came so late that we were done with the noodles.

Place is really small and got completely full on a Sunday night, so make reservations. However they’re open until 1am, which is a big plus in my book. Also, okonomiyaki is no longer on the menu, but the tonpeiyaki is fantastic and close enough to the same thing. Overall we loved the food and the service and would recommend this to anyone, especially if you’re looking for late night eats.

Great cozy Japanese izakaya at McCully Street Shopping Centre. The food menu was good and had a variety.

Drinks menu were good too. Overall, service was friendly and the servers would help make recommendations for food and drinks. Worth a visit if one has hunger pangs at night as it closes at 1am.

I entered the restaurant around 8:00 PM and ordered udon and teppanyaki. The menu clearly stated that the teppanyaki would take about 20 minutes to prepare since it’s made fresh. However, after we had already waited 40 minutes, the server came over and told us we would need to wait another 20 minutes.

What made the situation even more frustrating was that the Japanese customers seated next to us—who arrived after we did—received their food much earlier. Meanwhile, we only received one bowl of udon after waiting more than 20 minutes.

The food itself was very average, and the service was disappointing. The overall experience made us feel uncomfortable, and it seemed there may have been unequal treatment toward customers.

The gyoza, the special ‘beef burger patty’ as well as all the various okonimiyakis are so authentically delicious! So lucky to be able to come here and taste all these out of the world Japanese food!

Had a wonderful experiences! Got served by a supper sweet and nice Japanese lady. The food is amazing…feels like eating food in Japan.

Food and drink review as below:
.Shrimp Dumplings and Gyu Suji Oden have interesting taste. 7/10
.Tonpeiyaki is the best egg ever! Fluffy and soft taste, has thin slices pork in between, sweet and creamy sauce on top. 10:10
.Salmon sashimi tastes so good so fresh as a live salmon. Best tasting sashimi compared to those Japanese restaurants in the mall area. 10/10
.Choya Green Tea Ume also has an interesting taste. 6/10
.Got a free soda ume by mistake but turn out pretty good tastings! Probably Japanese soda. 8/10

Lovely restaurants, sweet services, amazing food. Affordable, so much worth the prices. Totally recommended this place, open late until 1am. Must try yourself

I absolutely adore this izakaya. I don’t know what happened a year ago for it to get such dismal reviews, but you can trust that the staff here have been dedicated to rectifying those complaints.

I first tried this place last year and got the Oden and I could not stop thinking about it since. Came back to Oahu for the holidays this year and this was the number one place on my list I wanted to take my husband to.

It did take a while to get through to make reservations over the phone but I started calling as soon as they opened, so needless to say they were busy but it’s worth getting reservations ahead of time so I didn’t mind.

The staff here are so polite and on top of things. Even though there were a couple of big parties, they took care of us right away and got our orders done. They let us know beforehand over the phone that it might take a while for the food because of the parties, but the drinks came out fast so it was nice to just chill and have a chance to relax.

The food here is phenomenal. This is my favorite place for oden. The fish here is also one of the best on the island. The tonpeiyaki was delicious. I will come here every chance I get whenever I’m back home.

No reservations were required and we were able to dine in. The food was good and it came out quick. The mentaiko pizza had less mentaiko then we expected, but most of our group couls taste it. The grilled gyoza was crispy and soft. Chicken Nanban and Ginger Pork were tasty as expected. The flavors of the Okonomiya we good, but it was more batter and less cabbage than anticipated. Always happy when there is Mozuku on the menu! But over all the food was good and the prices are reasonable.

The staff was very friendly. We did have to remind them about one of our items, but overall service was good.

For those wondering about covid precautions, the staff wore masks and gloves. Additionally, there are plastic dividers between tables/seating areas.

We would come back again.

The best meal we’ve had in months! To start off, I had the Yuzu (Japanese lemon) cocktail (awesome!), while the others had draft Asahi’s. For pupu’s (appetizers), we had deep fried oysters (2x – 8 out of 10 rating – crispy on the outside, moist on the inside – perfecto), spicy ahi poke (2x – 9/10 – tasted like it came right off the boat fresh), battered ahi (crispy, but bland and forgettable – 6/10). For entrées, we split an ahi sushi roll (8/10), Sukiyaki beef (10/10 – perhaps the best Sukiyaki I’ve had), and 2x Angus beefsteaks (8/10 – very finely flavored, but not the best Angus I’ve had). But taken together, there were no bad dishes, and only one bland dish, while all the others were at least excellent. So overall, I would rate it 9/10 – I nudged it up a point because the prices were more then fair. There were four of us – nine dishes, five beers, two cocktails, one coke, and the total was only $190. Definitely recommended.
