The food was good and the hot salsa had a great flavor. They have fried flower chips which is my personal favorite, the taco meat was seasoned well and the taco shell was just right. The complaints (if you had to find something to critique) the tamale could use a little more masa and filling. They only take cash or check. I would go again.

They sell ice here, (the machine is noisy), seat yourself, it is casual with some folding tables, but clean, good AC and sort of an oasis here in Kanopolis. Authentic food. For what it is, you can’t beat the healthy portions for the prices. Ask for salsa. Lots of art on the walls, cash only!

Did not end up eating, so I gave 5 stars on food to be fair. But I gave 1 stars on atmosphere and customer service.
It was messy and crowded.
When we walked in there was no signs to indicate if you should sit yourself or wait to be seated, so we stood for awhile waiting to be told, I addresses the person working at the the counter “Hi” them: “hello” me: “do we sit ourselves anywhere, or?” Them “Oh yeah go ahead”
Then we sat for about 10 minutes until we were approached about drinks or given menus.
There wasn’t music ir anything so we just sat there kind of awkwardly.
We may give it another try, I’m not sure.

Accessibility ♿️: 1/5 parking wasn’t adaptable, tables weren’t set up to accommodate wheelchairs, strollers, or walkers. Entry had a raised lip. I wouldn’t reccomend.

Kid friendly: 1/5 they have boosters you can get and attach yourselves, that is the only kid friendly feature offered. Wouldn’t recommend for families.

Food was gross. Fries were cold and overcooked. Told the manager/owner about the Cheese Enchilada being gross. He said sorry Mam that’s how they come! Full of onions and cold. Refried beans were cold. Don’t recommend this place at all!!!!

Orozco’s Portales is amazing. Period. I’ve been eating here since I was a little kid. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the mural of the invisible bullfighter on the wall. Awesome artwork and even better food is what you will find if you come here. Skip the Mexican restaurants in nearby Ellsworth. This is a native Kanopolis family owned restaurant and it is very reasonably priced. If you are thinking about driving from 45 minutes away to check out a new spot, it would be totally worth it. They make their own tortillas and flour chips and salsa. If you are on I-70 pull off on the K-156 exit and come to Kanopolis for dinner (or breakfast).

All around fantastic Mexican food. Can’t go wrong with their tacos or tostadas. Be sure to get the chips and salsa and bean dip. Prices are very reasonable, but cash only.

Orozco’s Portales Cafe is a great Mexican restaurant with big flavors in a small town atmosphere. We were there for breakfast and I had the Huevos Rancheros. It was very good and plentiful. Go give this place a try and you won’t be disappointed.

We got there 30 minutes before closing, the menu said they turn off the grill 20 minutes before closing at 7pm. By the time the waitress got back to our table with beverages and to take our fiod orders the grill had been shut down. We were very disappointed as all four of us ordered Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers. When the cook heard our order he quickly restarted it just for us! The burgers and fries were cooked beautifully! Will tell others about the great service and the “Best” burgers west of Highway 135! Thanks for what you did for four tired travelers.
