This a a must when visiting Ventura!!! Great food and great service!!
We attended a funeral and I made reservations for a very large party! There were 3 babies and the owner went out and purchased extra baby chairs for our party.
Why I recommend Orozco’s? The food was tasty! Some of best Mexican food I have had in a very long time. The attention to service and drinks was top notch! The team was very friendly and made us feel at home. Even though our party was there for a funeral, they made sure everything was perfect for our large party!
If they are able to handle a large party with ease, a smaller party is a breeze for them. This is why Orozco’s de Ventura gets 5 Stars!
We couldn’t make it to the Tequila & Taco Music Festival at the Ventura Fairgrounds this year to make up for that we thought of having some great Mexican food in a comfortable environment.
Lo and behold my girlfriend finds a Mexican restaurant within minutes of where we sat on the beach. Upon arrival the exterior looks like it could be a small operation. We get inside and start looking up pictures of the plates and immediately we decide on ordering the aguachiles.
My girlfriend ordered a custom watermelon with Tito’s margarita and I opted for the cucumber margarita with Tequila Ocho. AMAZING flavor!!
To start the meal we ordered two each of the asada and fish tacos a la carte. Both dishes presented great colors and flavors. I personally feel like these are the best fish tacos I’ve ever tasted – the mango on top rounded out the taco flavor with some sweetness. The asada tacos are no joke either! Savory with the hint of citrus on the meat, makes me salivate just thinking about it.
To fill out the meal we opted for the asada fajitas to come with our aguachiles (not pictured).
Overall I would willingly make the 2 hour trip from the San Gabriel valley again soon to try some more.
Today I came back with my husband and again the food was delicious and the service excellent (I had the tropical ceviche and he the asada de Orozco plate). Star was our server and she was awesome!!! She also made our margaritas and they were soooo good! Guillermo the owner was very hospitable and friendly. We are looking forward to coming back in the future with family and friends!
A BIT disorganized. Not big fan where you can see the entire kitchen. If you going have open kitchen it would have to be spotless.
The menu is one page only one side is food. The prices are similar prices from what you pay at a Steakhouse.
The presentation is nice whomever is the owner or head chef has formal training.
Outdoor seating area is very nice! The manager (older gentleman, possibly the owner?) was very attentive to everyone that was seated and/or waiting. What grabbed us to come was their Green michelada which has salsa verde in it. You wouldn’t expect it to taste as good as It did by the sound of it but if you like a spicy miche- try it!
We got the aguachiles that had very meaty shrimp. Spice level was about a 7. Steak fajitas were very tasty, vegetables tasted fresh and the rice and beans were ok.
Also got a watermelon mimosa that was pretty good but a little too sweet for my liking. However their watermelon Agua was very good! I Definitely recommend any of their agua frescas.
Overall we had a pleasant experience. Were looking forward to coming back and try more of their menu.
I’d recommend this place to anyone staying in Ventura.
Did I mention they had live jazz entertainment! This place is a hidden treasure. Thank you, Mr. Orozco for taking my large party last minute . I guarantee my family will be returning!
Service and food were both outstanding. Very traditional and authentic Mexican restaurant. We liked everything ranging from meat to fish and seafood. Absolutely recommend this place to have a true Mexican dinner in Ventura!
