Have been here a handful of times. Lacks consistency. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it sucks. The first time we went – it was great! Sucked the second time. Then the same for next 2x. It makes it hard to decide if we want to eat here or not. This time around, I decided I would start a review – so that way I can remember my experiences with The Original Pocono Pub.

[Most recently, got the following]

Cocktail: Milky Way (would get again)

Appetizer: Charcuterie Pretzel (loaded) — note it’s ONE LARGE pretzel. Filling!

Dinner: Half Rack of Baby Back Ribs, mashed potatoes, vegetable, and salad

Dinner was solid overall. I prefer to have gravy on my mashed potatoes but the pepper was okay. Would recommend.

I actually saved the salad for the next day because it was a lot of food. Definitely better if you have it fresh. Only complaint this time around was the dressing. They don’t give you enough. That little cup they gave me, only offered this much dressing (pictured). Looking at the cup, I knew I would need more dressing. I asked for more dressing and as a heads up – they do charge you extra for dressing. I just find that ridiculous, because you would expect a decent amount of dressing to be served in the first place.

Timeline of Night:
7:40PM – drinks
7:45PM – appetizer
8:15PM – dinner

Pros: lots of options
Cons: “not sure what you’re going to get” (Ex. one time the burgers were great; one time they sucked).

Hands down, the best chicken franchise I have ever had. I order chicken everywhere I go, and Pocono Pub completely exceeded my expectations. The flavor, quality, and freshness were outstanding—so good that it honestly surpassed some of the well-known restaurants I’ve eaten at in Manhattan. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. This place is an absolute must-try. Highly recommended! Tell Steve the Locksmith sent you

We were staying in the area and sought a local restaurant instead of chain restaurant. We were seated immediately and chose to sit at the outside patio. Which worked out do to lower noise level outside. I ordered the Porkchop entree. Which in my opinion was great. It was tender, moist and delicious. My wife had a chicken sizzle. Which was a chicken version of a chees steak. Which she enjoyed very much. Service was great and responsive. Prices and portions were reasonable. We would definitely eat there again.

Despite being seated fairly quick, it took quite sometime before a server came to our table. My husband and I both kept joking they forgot they put us in the back but were happy to finally see our waitress.

The young lady was very pleasant and even recommended her favorite wing flavor which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing.

We both were made aware that the kitchen was only serving fried food at that time but figured we’d go for the wings and sweet potato fries. We tried two flavors which unfortunately both had no flavor and tasted like old cooking oil. The grease was dripping off of them and after biting in to one, oil shot in to my husband’s eye. As for the fries, they tasted like the rest of the food and were cooked too long. In addition, we found a bunch of French fries mixed in with our wings. The picture below shows just some of the fries pushed aside from our wings. We’ve gone to many restaurants late at night and have never seen food so poorly fried and served. Disappointing paying for a meal that we could only consume 10% of.

As for the atmosphere, the music and pub appearance were a vibe. No complaints there.

This place surprised me in a good way! If you’re traveling and looking to skip the chains, stop at OPP!

I kept it simple with sweet potato fries to start and a shrimp po’ boy as my entree. Dessert was a crème brûlée.

The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and lightly salted, they came with ranch but I ate them without it.

The shrimp on the po’ boy was lightly battered and was well cooked and not heavy.

The crème brûlée had a perfect crunch and a delectable crème.

My service was prompt and friendly from door to table.

Atmosphere is a class pub vibe.

My total with a soft drink was $35, which felt reasonable.

Perfect bar! Great atmosphere and welcoming crowd. Came late so only had bar food which was excellent. Look no further. Loved it.

It was Valentine’s Day, so I understand delays in food, but it wasn’t packed! Open tables still, parking lot not full, no one standing waiting for table. We were seated immediately. After 4 rounds of drinks (2+ hours of waiting), we still didn’t receive our food. We decided to pay for drinks and take one of the meals to go. Again, the restaurant was not packed. The server was very attentive and apologetic. I honestly think they forgot about us .. when I did finally get my meal – penne alla vodka – and ate at home …. the pasta wasn’t even done. It was extremely al dente and not good. Probably would not visit again!

We had a very nice dinner here after a trip to Bushkill Falls. We try to come here every time we are in the area, as it is lively and homey inside, with affordable large portions. The live singer was a nice touch, and the Mac and Cheese was perfectly done. Thanks!

Stopped by for lunch today. I’ve been a few times before and only had wings and I was happy each time. The wings here are a good size, crispy, and the sauces taste good. The server today was very friendly and attentive. We chose to sit outside because it was fairly warm and I just prefer the outdoor seating here.

Today I decided to try out something other than the wings (which my gf still got) and I got The Bronson which is a grilled chicken sandwich on a long roll with American, mushrooms, and bacon. I love all of these ingredients and I was excited about it. The roll was also decent, which is usually half the battle.

Unfortunately the chicken on this was beyond overcooked. Due to the chicken being well over, the sandwich was quite dry. The loaded pierogis were just frozen Mrs T’s but they tasted good with the toppings, and my gf’s wings were good as usual. This won’t cause us to not come here anymore or anything like that, but this was an unfortunate first attempt at anything other than the wings. Will update after next time in.

Family of four had a nice dinner with a wide variety- buffalo Mac n cheese, house special with red sauce and pasta – to include sausage, pork and meatball. Party melt, fries and nachos. Food was absolutely DELICIOUS and fresh. Service was great. Portions were more than enough. We all took food home. Service was also great.
