All I knew was that I needed veggies in my system and boy, did they DELIVER!?! They brought my food within 10 min of me ordering! I wish I remembered the name of this dish but it was a deluxe vegan dish with the injera (spongey flatbread) and eating with my hands was such a fun experience. I paired it with a glass of sweet Ethiopian white wine and it was so tasty.
I’d say that the only thing they could’ve done better on was being a little more attentive with me if I needed anything. That’s literally the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars. Other than that, I’d definitely come back here to try everything else on the menu!!
Got the Vegan Special and I had a chance to try some items for the first time. I was truly enchanted since every bite had something unique to offer. My favourite were the String beans and red lentils. Really wanted to try Berbere chicken but it wasn’t offered in any of the combos so that was a miss for me.
Overall I left satisfied.
The restaurant is beautiful, homey and unique. I loved the greetings on the door in many different languages. The waitress/managers were all lovely and knowledgeable. I didn’t want alot of onions on my tibs but she advised it may affect the taste and that I can remove the ones I didn’t want. She was right! I had the Chercher Special Tibs and it was amazingly tender, delicious.
Thank you for the hospitality and food. I shall return when I’m in town again!
My only critique is texture-related: I personally prefer my yellow split peas to be softer, and some parts were a bit firmer than I like. My friend ordered the chicken tibs, and while they were okay, they didn’t taste as fresh as expected. That said, no one got sick, so it may have just been an off moment rather than a bigger issue.
All in all, the food was good, the vegetarian options really shined, and I’d come back, especially for the veggie platter and tea. With a little more consistency, this could easily be a go-to spot.
The service I will say could be improved. I came in by myself which is not uncommon for me, but they put me at a table that probably shouldn’t even be a table – half of the only decent seat at that table faces the brick wall. It honestly felt a little insulting – like “Sit here up against the wall, loser”
It wasn’t busy when I came in either though it did get busy by the time I left close to 7 pm. Next time I’ll sit at the bar to avoid relegation to the lonely table
My server was nice but pretty quiet and wasn’t getting it when I kept asking her to repeat herself. Also didn’t ask me how I was doing once. The woman bringing injet was very attentive and rapid to get me more when I ran out.
