Quite Marvelous
We visited this place based on the reviews that it had and its proximity to our destination. Please do not be misled by the beauty of my pictures. Both the beef brisket and the pork were chopped. This was not what I expected and should be expressed to those ordering the BBQ platter. The potato salad was less than desirable. The business, it seems, is a fixture to Fairhope and has a rich history. I have seen people compliment the “at home experience” of the place. If by “at home” they are referring to the cobwebs throughout (one with a huge beetle in it), filthy window shades, sticky floor/carpet and waiter who had his bare hands over the mouths of our drinks, I suppose it is indeeed “at home;” just not MY Home. My friend’s seafood platter was okay. We are enough to satisfy our hunger and left so that our waiter could finish vacuuming. We would not recommend this place to tourists or locals and will definitely not be back. If anything, I would order the seafood platter to go. Then again, if the kitchen unseen is anything like the visual delights in the dining area, don’t bother.

Great customer service and sweetest people on earth – we paid $11.99 for pork plates with two sides. Took a while for the food to come out, but it was okay. I’m not a fan of the sauce, but the pork was yummy. It wasn’t bad, but I’m not sure we will go back for bar b que. We might go back for seafood and burgers as recommended. 🙂

Possibly the best ribs we have ever eaten!!! Picked up ribs for a ballgame party. Everyone said they were the best ever. Fell off the bone! Flavor was excellent. We rarely add potato salad because it is rarely good most places. Not as good as mine, but better than any store bought we’ve had anywhere!!!

My dad first took me here when I was 12, and I’ve been going ever since. That’s 20 years. I don’t get to go as often as I would like but no matter how long between my visits they still remember me and my order. The pulled pork is amazing and I love the bbq sauce and steak fries.

You come here for the food and the food alone. Dinning experience is just a place to get your grub on. Pay no mind to the springs sticking in your butt or the gum from 82. Great burger and corn fritters.

After trying nearly every place in town for lunch, Ben’s is our favorite. We have lunch here 3 to 4 times a week and it’s delicious every time. I love their pulled pork sandwich, and I practically drink the sauce.

I consider myself a burger expert. I’ve them all across the country. Hands down Ben’s is the BEST! Others love the bbq and daily specials. I haven’t made it passed the burger. It’s a true dive but you don’t want to miss this gem.

I do not doubt the reviewer who stated this restaurant had many cobwebs when she visited. I do want to update her review to say I searched throughout the entire restaurant, even in the restrooms and the kitchens, and found no cobwebs anywhere. Perhaps because of her review, the restaurant owners realized this issue and remedied it immediately.
