Origen Bistro in New Orleans delivers a refined and elevated take on Venezuelan cuisine while staying true to its roots. I ordered the branzino and it was perfectly cooked, with crisp skin and tender, flavorful flesh. The seafood stew was another standout, rich and aromatic with fresh shrimp and calamar. The tajadas were caramelized beautifully and added the perfect comforting touch.

I also ordered a papelon and it was excellent, refreshing, and well balanced.

Origen Bistro brings Venezuelan flavors to a fine dining level without losing their authenticity. A must visit in New Orleans.

And when I say this I mean it. THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT I’VE HAD IN NOLA SO FAR. Ohhhhh myyyyy, incredible vibes, incredible food. Such kindness and hospitality!

The ambience is so calming and gorgeous, I didn’t think the food could be THAT amazing but holy heck!!! I got the Cachapa with pork. Make sure to ask for the house made hot sauce if you like spice. Woah… Incredible, I would rate this 11/10 if I could.

3 stars because although apart of the dining experience was nice, (thank you Carlos).
two things occurred, Some of the dishes promoted aren’t event served on the menu, the burger in photo isn’t anything as ADVERTISED. it was suppose to be a 1/2 Pound oz Chopped ribeye, provolone cheese, papelon onions jam, origen basil aioli. Ordered the Tuna Caribe, which didn’t quite suffice as Tuna wasn’t as flavorfulnor cooked. He did accommodate me for the branzino fish. Better choice.

I write this review not only because of the dining experience, but also being blocked by the restaurant on Instagram after my party mentioned them about the lack in the Ribeye Burger. Poor.

An exceptional experience from start to finish.
The place offers a warm and carefully designed atmosphere that perfectly combines coziness and elegance.

The culinary proposal is outstanding: the appetizers were the perfect start, the “Guarapito” cocktail prepared by Carlos was refreshing and well-balanced, and the main course stood out for its flavor, presentation, and quality. Every detail reflects dedication and passion for what they do.

The service was kind, attentive, and professional, which complemented the experience flawlessly.

Without a doubt, a highly recommended restaurant for anyone looking for a pleasant ambiance, excellent service, and exquisite cuisine.

Absolutely amazing gem found in a corner neighborhood. I came in with my wife and daughter (from out of town) and were so happy to find this place. I am well travelled and grew up oversees and know a thing or two about good food, and this place has it~!
Reasonable priced, passionate people, relaxed atmosphere but great aesthetic. These are the types of places that make a city like New Orleans great. If you’re in town, check it out!!!

Truly an outstanding gem in Bywater regardless whether you’re a fan of Venezuelan food or trying for the first time. I’m from NYC where I grew up eating Venezuelan food all over Brooklyn and Queens, and trust me, Origen is *next* level. The arepa is by far the best, and I always felt like it was on the heavy, denser side to make it my go to dish or sandwich. I normally go for cachapas which are soft and sweet. The arepa here is unlike any others I’ve had, very crisp on the outside but light and airy on the inside.

Sol breakfast was perfect, a little bit of everything. Generous portion of plantains and everything else. Black beans had a great flavor. The hot sauce with pickled veg had a nice tang and heat, they will warn you to try to it first because it’s pretty hot! Cachapa is ideal for those who prefer sweeter than savory breakfast but still likes a bit of both. Lots of cheese and a nice portion of black beans on the side. We stopped by for brunch but the whole menu was available to order. We took an extra cachapa home for later. They have a nice menu of cocktails and non-alcohol options like fresh limeade, plenty of options for everyone. The staff here are very welcoming, and will have you feeling at home right away. Don’t hesitate, this place will soon become your favorite place in Bywater.

Amazing gluten free arepas that are crispy while still being light and fluffy and stuffed with the most amazing pulled pork or chicken avocado mayo. Not one bad bite in a party of 4 ordering all different things. Full bar with some creative well-balanced cocktails. The atmosphere is really adorable shabby chic and the service was warm and personable. A real gem in the Bywater neighborhood.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Origen Restaurant and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The food was absolutely amazing—authentic Venezuelan flavors. Each dish was bursting with the rich, traditional tastes that I love, yet presented with a touch of upscale flair that elevated the whole experience.

The environment was very inviting, blending a cozy, home-like atmosphere with a touch of elegance. It truly made me feel like I was enjoying a special meal at home, but with the added bonus of a refined dining experience.

Our server was outstanding, providing customer service that went above and beyond. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, they made sure our evening was perfect from start to finish.

Very unassuming restaurant from the outside, it’s almost a shock to see how beautiful it is inside. We had early reservations on a Friday and were their only guests when we arrived. We picked our seats and went over their menus. I ordered a damm good beer in the Daura lager. The waiter gave us his suggestions and we ordered the queso de mano, parrilla origen and tuna caribe. The queso was similar to burrata or a fresh warm mozzarella. Not quite as soft as burrata but really tasty. The tuna was so good, and almost had an Indian butter chicken sauce flavor to me. We were surprised how big a portion it was, and cooked rare like we prefer. There was so much that we couldn’t finish it, and it almost tasted better the next day. The ribeye was somewhat a disappointment as everything else was so flavorful. I’m not a huge fan of that cut and probably should’ve gone with the flank steak instead. It wasn’t bad, and cooked perfectly, but only had salt and pepper for seasoning? The sides were all outstanding too. Really good black beans, maduros, and the best yuca fries I’ve ever had. I do wish they had a little more variety in their sides as they’re starch heavy. The house made hot sauce is slapping. Almost like a giardiniera with pickled veggies and peppers. They need a bigger spoon to serve it with because I was pouring it on everything. If they bottle it, I’ll buy it. Service was attentive and pleasant and we wanted for nothing. They also have lunch and brunch options that I’m excited to try next visit

This place is absolute fire. If you’re in the Bywater for breakfast/brunch/lunch, don’t pass this up. Tequenos, perfect texture, right amount of Grease. Tuna tiradito is an explosion of flavors and the soft tuna pairs perfectly with the fried arepa. If you like mescalitas, their version (vezcalita) is excellent. Great combo of sweet and spicy. The cachapa with pork and egg is a bizarre dish. Almost too many competing flavors and textures but very unique and still quite tasty.
