Had an excellent time here for my birthday lunch yesterday! It’s such a fun place to eat with friends and family—super kid-friendly and perfect for a large party to get together. It’s also a great spot for a date. Just a heads up, I wouldn’t bother with the drinks as they’re pretty overpriced and not really that good. Other than that, I was definitely happy with the visit! ‍

My family and I had a great time at Ooaka Sushi! We ordered hibachi and everything was amazing — the food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The portions were big, and we all left full and happy. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. It’s a nice spot for a family dinner, and we’ll Absolutely! I’ll be back for more!

One of our favorite date night spots. We always come here on a whim, so never made any reservations and we’ve never waited long for a table. Food is excellent and the entertainment is also good! We’re hibachi fans and have visited many in the northern nj/suffern area… this is one of the best entertainment hibachi restaurants, even more so than the ‘fancier’ ones that are far more expensive.

Having eaten at Ooka multiple times in the last 3-4 years, today was my first unfortunate disappointment. The establishment is beautiful as always, the ambiance created by the dim lighting allows you to relax in your seat and prepare for a nice meal.

Today, I sat in a private booth away from the Hibachi grills, and was served by a polite gentleman who worked quickly and patiently when taking my order. I purchased the Filet Mignon & Shrimp combination platter, the meat I asked to be cooked medium(slight pink). My meal came incredibly fast! From 6:20pm when I ordered, to 6:31pm when I received my main course after eating the starters; clear soup and salad.

My complaint is with the Filet Mignon. After tasting two pieces, I immediately noticed a difference in texture of the meat. As mentioned previously, I’ve been here before, and I always get this combination, this time was a noticeable change. I was very disappointed, and asked three different members of staff to check the plate. I informed them that the texture and taste was not right, and asked if I had been incorrectly served their NY strip steak. My server attempted to ask his manager, but was told the meat was filet mignon, which he relayed to me. I then asked two others, and their responses were, “If you ordered this, then it’s what you got,” and “Did you order the steak?” I said no, but they said again, “that’s what you asked for, it should be correct.” Without checking the actual food itself.

This was incredibly frustrating, having been charged almost $40 (including a cup of Pepsi for $3.75 + tax) for a plate of food, I simply wished it to be the right meat/temp. Now, my waiter did try to tell me again that his team members confirmed the meat as filet mignon, but I truly do not believe it. Or, the meat itself was overcooked past medium to the Well Done phase, which may explain the chewier, less tender texture that I experienced. Even the flavor was different which tells me otherwise. Nonetheless, I took my leftovers and left quietly, honestly upset. I’ll attach photos for those of you that know the difference of each cut. I hope the next service will be better like the ones before this. Thank you for your time.

Fun night of hibachi show! It’s a great place to take your kids. We had a great hibachi chef who was joking around with our kids. Huge portions – rice, noodles veggies, and then proteins on top of all of that. Food is well seasoned and flavorful.

Wear a sweater – the hood vents they use to keep the restaurant smoke free are powerful – that air it pulls out is replaced with outside air. If you come on a busy Saturday night, don’t expect to be able to hang at the table. There will be people waiting to be seated.

We entered and immediately rushed to a seating place with a party of 5. We ordered everything and then brought another party of 2 to our table without even asking us, this new party not even talking or engaging. Entertainment was great and it is the same as all other ones. It is fun for everyone and enjoyed the most. Good in this place was good but mostly served very small quantity of proteins (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc).

First time sat on live table and got to say amazing experience. I guess worth the price. Chef was awesome cooked the food within no time while interacting with customer. I tried lobster tail with shrimp cooked perfectly. Also, served with rice, noodles and veggies on side. I will definitely will visit this place again very soon.

We ordered crispy spicy tuna and it was no where near how they usually make it. The rice was not fried completely. It was mushy, texture was completely off.

Great experience overall. Upon entering my girlfriend and I waited about 20 minutes for a table and were seated with 6 other guests. All our orders were promptly taken and our cook came over and was absolutely wonderful. He seemed a bit distracted at times but made us feel welcome and cooked the food to perfection. Great guy. I feel they could’ve paid more attention to the table drinks-wise so you’ll probably have to wave someone down for another drink. Concerning other reviews about being rushed, I did not feel this. Had plenty of time to eat my food, paid my bill and left feeling satisfied as did my girlfriend. I would definitely recommend.

One thing of note is parking kinda sucks. Once you go in and come back around there’s no way to circle back into the lot unless you make an illegal left into oncoming traffic. Yeah don’t do that…so just take whatever spot you see coming in.
