Today, I sat in a private booth away from the Hibachi grills, and was served by a polite gentleman who worked quickly and patiently when taking my order. I purchased the Filet Mignon & Shrimp combination platter, the meat I asked to be cooked medium(slight pink). My meal came incredibly fast! From 6:20pm when I ordered, to 6:31pm when I received my main course after eating the starters; clear soup and salad.
My complaint is with the Filet Mignon. After tasting two pieces, I immediately noticed a difference in texture of the meat. As mentioned previously, I’ve been here before, and I always get this combination, this time was a noticeable change. I was very disappointed, and asked three different members of staff to check the plate. I informed them that the texture and taste was not right, and asked if I had been incorrectly served their NY strip steak. My server attempted to ask his manager, but was told the meat was filet mignon, which he relayed to me. I then asked two others, and their responses were, “If you ordered this, then it’s what you got,” and “Did you order the steak?” I said no, but they said again, “that’s what you asked for, it should be correct.” Without checking the actual food itself.
This was incredibly frustrating, having been charged almost $40 (including a cup of Pepsi for $3.75 + tax) for a plate of food, I simply wished it to be the right meat/temp. Now, my waiter did try to tell me again that his team members confirmed the meat as filet mignon, but I truly do not believe it. Or, the meat itself was overcooked past medium to the Well Done phase, which may explain the chewier, less tender texture that I experienced. Even the flavor was different which tells me otherwise. Nonetheless, I took my leftovers and left quietly, honestly upset. I’ll attach photos for those of you that know the difference of each cut. I hope the next service will be better like the ones before this. Thank you for your time.
Wear a sweater – the hood vents they use to keep the restaurant smoke free are powerful – that air it pulls out is replaced with outside air. If you come on a busy Saturday night, don’t expect to be able to hang at the table. There will be people waiting to be seated.
One thing of note is parking kinda sucks. Once you go in and come back around there’s no way to circle back into the lot unless you make an illegal left into oncoming traffic. Yeah don’t do that…so just take whatever spot you see coming in.
