Where have I been my whole life?!
Just be forewarned…after you eat here, it may be hard to stomach other restaurants. Just sayin’.
Extra appreciation for Onotria’s accommodations to my dietary restrictions. As a pescavegan who indulged in too many years of eating out in LA, I’ve struggled to adjust to basic OC buttered-AF-BS.
Onotria offers outstanding options (ahem, photoshoot-ready food) for customers like me, and also delivers drool-worthy dishes for all diners simply desiring deliciousness. There’s really no way to order wrong here.
Even the olives are O-worthy.
The (pescavegan-customized) lobster-and-pasta is currently my personal favorite, and auditorily pairs well with Kali’s “Area Codes”.
Should you have the luxury of speaking with the owner, Massimo, ask him for his wine-pairing recommendations designed for each dish. Servers also seem well-informed, and consistently suggest scrumptiousness that tickles tastebuds.
While I’m surprised that Onotria doesn’t have more reviews, part of me selfishly wants to keep this delicious secret to myself…
I’m sorry for other restaurants that will inevitably disappoint–che palle!–and also: you’re welcome for saving you from such sadness.

Hands down the best Italian and one of the best meals you’ll ever have in Orange County. Food is impeccable, service is the best and the entire experience is the best there is.

Just amazing, Small dark 1,000 different wines the cook is the owner and wine guy and was born in Italy, came out and talked to us about all 4 courses and explained the wine that was selected for hs and had this amazing accent I couldn’t understand him half the time so it was sexy and the food WAS AMAZING. Worth the drive and cost…

We love all of the restaurants Massimo has opened over the years and Onotria is extra special. The food is amazing, wine is delicious, and the menu is creative and we love the seasonal additions.
Easily the best Italian in Costa Mesa and Newport

Had the great pleasure on January 28th to eat in their private dining room with our friends. This was a true, fulfilling and inspiring experience all around. The chef/owner was a class act who brought captivating anecdotes from all his worldly experiences. His wonderful daughter led the serving details like a true pro. Yes, the food was amazing from the presentation to the taste. My wife and I know a lot of restaurants and there is nothing like this one. We will be back(and we came all the way from Arizona for that night)!

Spectacular. A foodie’s restaurant. The setting is not fancy, but stellar, seasonal, creative cuisine paired with a great wine list at extremely reasonable places. Exceedingly high quality ingredients. I can’t ask for more. Staff is all wonderful.

This place is great. It is set in an intimate open floor plan that is right next to an open kitchen. The owner does amazing food and wine pairings as well as provide commentary about the origin of the wines, history of the region, and a great italian accent and sense of humor. I highly recommend this place for private events as well. Massimo will work with you to put together the menu and wine pairings to create the perfect experience for your event.
