We love the chicken katsu here. It was moist and fried to perfection. Their BBQ chicken was also tasty. We had the combination platter and the BBQ beef was the only item that was forgettable. I’ve been to two Ono locations and they seem to be consistent. Prices are reasonable and I enjoy their food more than L&L. This was a no frills restaurant. The self serve sauces (katsu and teriyaki) were also delicious. Stay away from the guava pie. It was like a fat pop tart which I hate. I had hoped it would be a warm pie like at Jolibee, McDonald’s or KFC with guava filling but it was a prepackaged room temperature dry and unpleasant pop tart with some guava jam.

I’m bummed about my last visit. Not because of the service but the food.
I used to come a lot last summer and the service sucked but the food was good enough to ignore it. The potential to be great is the reason for two stars instead of one.
Today, the chicken katsu I got was really dry. Almost as much crunchy breading as chicken. Not the best but okay with sauce. Until I got a really hard part and had to spit it out…it was bone surrounded by gristle.
If I wasn’t on lunch break I would’ve taken it back but I’m just gonna toss it. Couldn’t even finish the meal.

I apologize in advance for my “Karen” review. It’s 3:30pm and there are no customers in the store besides me. Eric is sitting behind the counter while the cook is working on my order. There is trash littering the floor and tables that need wiping down. Who is suppose to clean the store and when?

Portion was small, burnt and macaroni salad tasted bad. I don’t usually go 2 this location on Madison in Riverside and I won’t be going back. Please do better. I also ordered the Katsu chicken in a family meal it waz good but the bbq chicken was undercooked and the island fire tasted overcooked, chewy and old.

I did a pick up order so I did not have to wait in line. My food was done on time, and tasted amazing! The place is a bit small, so it felt a little crowded. But otherwise, the service was great and the food was good! Highly recommend!

About a year ago or so I was eating here when I lady got up and said “the best chicken in town “ I giggled, boy oh boy !!! Was she right !!! You really get a bang for your buck !! Today as other days was smacking !!! Johanna was cool !!! Very nice and kind !!! And friendly ! Also compliments to the chef the short king with the beard ! Very good very well made great service !
