It was just okay. I visited while traveling in Seattle, and unfortunately nothing really stood out. The food was fine but not memorable. Honestly i expected more since the ratings were good.

I’m not sure whether this spot is popular among locals, but as a visitor, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to eat here. It didn’t feel worth the time or money compared to other dining options in the city.

Despite being a Japanese-owned restaurant, they heavily rely on pre-packaged imported goods. While in line, we saw boxes of pre-fried shrimp tempura from Vietnam and pre-grilled eel from China being delivered. We decided to order the curry udon and katsudon to avoid reheated meals, but the food still disappointed. The udon tasted like it was made from standard store-bought curry cubes, and the pork in the katsudon had a gamey taste hidden under heavy use of sugar.

A specialty Japanese place that focuses on onigiri and ochazuke, with a handful of other classic Japanese rice bowls and udon.

Tried the oyako onigiri (grilled salmon and ikura), grilled eel onigiri plus the karaage.

For the onigiri – the portions are really good and the seaweed is very crisp, you can tell it’s freshly made. The oyako tasted good but didn’t really stand out because I think the salmon could have been seasoned a bit better. I personally preferred the grilled eel onigiri – the eel was very meaty and portion was also really good. What was a bit lacking with the onigiri was the rice, which is kind of the most important I feel like. The rice didn’t taste freshly made because it was lukewarm. Maybe it had just cooled, but I wanted the rice to be warmer and more mochi.

Karaage was okay, nothing special. I think the chicken were cut too large so the flavor was lacking. Wouldn’t recommend.

Portions are good but it’s on the more expensive side – came out to $30 for everything after tax and tips.

The matcha ochazuke (green tea base with added salted salmon) was hard to finish. The rice lacked texture, and the flavors didn’t come together at all—the salty fish and matcha were actively clashing. Side tofu and pickles were forgettable. One star purely for the cute teapot.

The Unagi rice bowl was edible with a generous portion, though the eel texture felt overly soft.
The Agedashi tofu was shocking, thick, starchy sauce with completely soggy tofu and muted aromatics.
The Grilled saba was the best dish: crispy outside, juicy inside, and honestly saved the meal.

Overall, very uneven execution. One solid fish dish couldn’t make up for the rest.

I was recommended by a local Seattle. They did not disappoint me. Nice atmospheric small restaurant. The staffs are friendly, knowledgeable, and making us feel like we’re long time family. I came around 7:50pm, was not full or rush.

I ordered Matcha Tea Lemonade as a drink and it was delightful if you are into little tangy taste w/ matcha. Ebi Mayo Onigiri was bigger than I expected and it is so good. Would get it again! Yaki Onigiri with sweet miso paste was my first time and it was alright, crispy and the flavor as describe by the flavor, but it did not like “wow” me. I’m gonna try another flavor next time I come by. Lastly, main entree is Donburi (rice bowl) Una Tama Jyu. Portion is huge than I anticipated, it was exquisitely delicious! comes with miso soup to enhance the flavor when feeling full.

Imo I felt really peaceful. It’s not the kind of restaurant that when it’s dead or empty atmosphere. I went solo. I do like the music they displayed. It’s not the peaceful music, but like artist from Americans, to J-pop, and k-pop. Sorta like snapping back to reality. It is a nice balance overall. I would recommend any travelers to come this restaurant to give it a try!

Loved this place. Really small spot with limited seating and hours. That said, some of the best Japanese food of its kind (and my wife is Japanese). The staff was really sweet and accommodating. Not really any downside to this place. They don’t have any toddler/baby high chairs, which was fine for us with our little one. We just held her. We will definitely recommend and be back.

We ordered: Onigiri Unagi Cheese, Mokaido Cod Special, Onogiri Shrimp Tempura (Honey Mayo), Cheesy rice ball, Udon, Domburi

Tiny little hole in the wall with awesome onigiri and ochazuke. It’s all very customizable and everything we tried was delicious. The broth is what really makes the ochazuke special. For the onigiri, the katsu is my favorite.

It’s a small place with small tables so there’s often a wait.

Tucked away in the Seattle international district lies Onibaba- a fantastic Japanese food and drink experience that exudes authenticity.
Menu has alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices to start with a wide range of choices. The Lychee soda and Lychee Oolong tea are both fantastic non-alcoholic choices. They have beer and saki available as well.
For food you really cannot go wrong. We had the edamame and gyoza along with California onigiri to start. All of which were excellent.
For mains we had the Katsu Curry, Piri Kara Buta Bara Don, Mini Su Udon, Karaage Salad all of which were excellent and highly recommend. Portions are ample- you will not leave hungry! Service staff is helpful food was delicious. Wife approved!
Place is small do make reservations if possible- otherwise wait will appraise 30-35 minutes. Very off the beaten path but extra worth it.

Come here. Order everything. You will be so glad – every rice item is perfect, the Karaage has the most delicious breading, if you’re up for the mackerel it’s grilled to perfection, and don’t miss the Umami IPA!

The food here is delicious. Their ochazuke is tasty and comes with little sides. The teas are drinkable and the inigiri are large.

Service is average.

Decor and atmosphere is cute, but I dislike the uncomfortable stool seating. It’s weird that two tables have cushioned chairs with backs and the rest of them are wooden stools. No coat rack or hooks for your stuff.

The prices are on the higher end of average.
