Update: “The restaurant owner read my review, and decided to retaliate with slanderous accusations making false claims about alcohol consumption. I was with my minor son, and we were on our way home from work… we still had a three hour drive. Plus… I DO NOT DRINK. The only beverages we ordered that night were 2 diet cokes. That’s it. $6 ea. I have my itemized receipt to prove this. There is NO alcohol on our bill! This owner is a liar, and now he will be facing a lawsuit for libel. FAFO”

For a place that pretends to be a high-end steakhouse, this was one of the most embarrassingly bad dining experiences I’ve had in years.

The disaster started immediately with a bowl of soup that arrived cold. Not “could be warmer” — cold. That should have been the first sign that nobody in that kitchen cares about what they’re sending out.

I ordered the 16oz ribeye medium rare. What showed up was medium well at best, dry, and honestly had a slightly rancid taste that made me question how long it had been sitting around before it hit the grill. When you’re charging premium steakhouse prices, overcooking a ribeye is already unacceptable — serving one that tastes off is even worse.

Then came the risotto, which is where things went from disappointing to downright insulting. This was clearly not made to order. I’d be surprised if it was even made that day. The flavor was awful and the texture had the consistency of mortar — thick, pasty, and completely inedible.

At that point we asked to speak with the manager. Our waitress was polite but obviously new and out of her depth, which isn’t her fault. What is the restaurant’s fault is making us wait over 30 minutes for the manager to even show up. And when he finally did, instead of listening or trying to resolve the situation, he acted like a sarcastic smart-aleck who couldn’t care less.

We weren’t demanding free food or a discount. We simply expected a restaurant charging these prices to acknowledge the problem and attempt to make it right. Instead, we got indifference and attitude.

This place is an absolute joke. $140 for cold soup, a ruined steak, cement-grade risotto, and terrible management. I’ve had better meals at Shari’s for a fraction of the price.

Save your money and go somewhere that actually deserves it — because this place certainly doesn’t.

100% loved this place. Walking in you are over taken with a perfect blend of “back in the day” and high end elegance. The staff is friendly and professional, without feeling stuffy. We were sat at a little table in the middle so were worried about it being noisy, but it still felt warm and intimate for our party of 4. Our waitress was a dear (I wish I’d remembered her name!). And the food… was fantastic. Prime rib, ribeye and the special halibut… were so good and fresh – it was hard not to devour! Luckily we saved room for dessert… I recommend the mud pie! You won’t be disappointed!! This is one of our new favorite steak houses and next time we’re down for a visit we will stop in. What a treat it was for us! I highly recommend making a reservation since the restaurant is smaller. But it’s absolutely worth it!!!

This was our second time to One Fifteen Broiler. Honestly, our 1st experience wasn’t great so it took a while to return. I’m glad we did. Service was great and food was even better.
Unfortunately, the owner is a Yankees fan so…Just kidding. It was great! We WILL be back. GO METS!

Ordered salmon and steak. Steak sauce was unusual and my companion did not care for it. Steak was cooked decently, though. On the other hand, the salmon was the worst I have ever had. Unbelievably dry and the glaze tasted like teriyaki sauce. Granted, this is a steak house, but a decent cook should be able to prepare a salmon better than that. That is my barometer when I try a new place….. The salmon and the salad. Now the side salad was great. Fresh with a wonderful house dressing. The service was mediocre at best. Will not be back

Our steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare. The calamari appetizer was wonderful. The calamari rings were very meaty. The sauce was perfect too. Side of scalloped potatoes was mediocre. Service was great. Since reservations are required, they can plan ahead and not get swamped. Atmosphere was cozy. We just happened to be seated next to a very noisy large party. They really detracted from our overall experience.

Focused on quantity not quality in my opinion. I ordered the halibut, unfortunately it was mushy and tasteless. The worst I have ever had, I did not finish it. My husband ordered the Wellington. He said it was very tender, but was not seasoned, had no taste. The staff were very attentive, and the atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately, the food was not good. We will not be back.

Update** this place is still as good as ever, and FRANK! Is absolutely wonderful. Truly made our dining experience outstanding. Such a wonderful person.

First off, I would like to start with praising our wonderful server, Janet! She really made sure we had everything we needed and gave wonderful recommendations all with the kindest smile. The kind of gal you visit a place and look forward to seeing. The food was also INCREDIBLE! Every single person loved their dish and had zero complaints. Even the salmon, my grandfather was very impressed. We so much look forward to visiting this place again and highly reccomend visiting. Do be sure to make a reservation!
Here’s our order.

100% reccomend everything and our neighboring table reccomended the beef wellington and the pork chop which was ginormous!

Outstanding venue for that special dinner occasion! My wife loves the crab stuffed prawns. I can’t get past the prime rib. Always cooked on point and ample servings. Dotti is our favorite waitress, but then we’ve found all of the wait staff to be outstanding!! Kudos to Angeles who delivers everything with grace and style! We’ve never been disappointed!! Reservations are a must!

One fifteen Broiler is as it says, the atmosphere of a classic 1940s speakeasy despite the entrance being right on D street.

We attempted to go once before and discovered you needed a reservation in which we made reservations and went this evening. Make sure you call ahead if you want to enjoy the experience and ensure yourself a spot.

Frank is a true professional maître d’. He knew the entreés, specials, catch of the day and how it is all prepared.

The food was amazing, prepared to perfection. Definitely a little secret to the locals, but one that should be tried by everyone.

I had the sirloin with peppercorn sauce and risotto in picture #1. My wife had the Beef Wellington with baked potato in picture #2. I had for dessert the chocolate brownie sundae in picture #3. We also had the shrimp cocktail (not pictured) and was larger than we thought it would be! Everything we had was WONDERFUL! Service was beyond AMAZING! Our waitress “Joy” was VERY helpful with food decisions and fun to talk with.

This was our first time here and DEFINITELY not our last. Just a heads up, we found out when making your reservations put in your order for lobster as they are limited on how many they have.
