Restaurant decor is lovely. I eas expecting over the top service as well as cuisine based on the reviews i read. The server was less than attentive though the back staff was great! Pinot Grigio (10 oz) was delivered but ice didnt come until halfway through the finish, French onion soup tasty, drunken figs hard to cut through and eat, herb crusted salmon cooked nicely but not “crusted”, coffee nice and hot.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner with the family downstairs in the wine room! Waiter’s recs were spot on – everything was delicious. Especially the mussels, Brussels, flounder, and coconut dessert. Cocktails were okay. Looking forward to next time!

Always great. Come earlier for a drink at their great bar they have a seasonally changing artisan menu. The room is small but it reminds you how lucky you are to be there. If the fried chicken is on the menu don’t miss out. Also, the short rib Cristini with the horseradish is a new favorite.

Resturant itself is very fancy, high end establishment with prices and an menu to boot. Overall food however was just good, not mind blowing. While nothing was terrible I was expecting a bit more from a $44 fish entree. The one mixed drink we ordered was not good either – way too sour. Service was also annoyingly slow at times and our waitress took a while to bring menus, receipts, check in on us, etc. Certainly still a good place but for a restaurant that charges Michelin star prices the food and service is not there. Would still recommend it just for a upscale night out but temper expectations.

Intimate upscale restaurant with a very interesting and diverse menu. Nightly specials add to the diversity. You can get a steak or a burger; mussels or swordfish.
The servers are friendly and knowledgeable.
On our most recent visit, my wife had the grilled swordfish while I opted for the Mahi Mahi. Both were accompanied by the One 53 signature Fries that are skinny and super crispy (see photo). I started off with a Spinach Salad that was wonderful.
The bar is a major player at One 53 with signature cocktails and a very extensive wine. I found a French white that I liked so much I will buy for my home wine frig.
On a recent visit I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli (photo) that was sweet and delicious. My wife had Sauteed Shrimp with Pasta that she said was great.
Parking is a challenge in Rocky Hill, but the restaurant has a valet parking service.

We came to one 53 because we live in the area and we wanted to try this restaurant for quite sometime. Google also had good reviews. The ambience is really cool. Reservation is highly recommended. The bar area is pretty nice. My husband got a Jameson and I got the Paper place. Aperol is my current favorite. Drinks were great! They also have huge wine list. We skipped the appetizer as the menu mostly had vegetarian or sea foodish apps. My husband does not eat sea food and since we would share the appetizer so we skipped it entirely. Some meat options in pork or beef or chicken would have been nice for the starter section.
For mains hubs got the burger with hand cut fries and I got the arctic char with couscous. The burger was fine but my arctic char lacked seasoning. The server mentioned a bunch of specials but all of them seemed extremely pricey compared to their regular menu.
Anyway since it was my husband’s bday they gave us a couple of complimentary cookies which was a nice gesture . THANK YOU!
Btw, they also served bread in the beginning but it came with some kind of bean dip ( I think fava beans) which was a very odd combination. Did not like it at all !! Some plain butter would have been nice. I like bean dips but usually with a flat bread or pita bread…
Overall not fully satisfied by the experience… for that price point , I was expecting more.

We went there for birthday celebrations. Unfortunately we did not find the food as great as it seems on reviews. For us it lacked flavor and taste, atmosphere is truly very much what one would find in any other regular restaurant.
The bread was COLD and HARD! $$$ is not rationale or justified with anything they offer.
I give 3 star as it is a regular restaurant with style in food presentation but really lack in flavor.
If one plans to go there, pls go without expectations, as they may be inflated due to reviews. Wish them much luck!

I’m sorry to say, but the food at this restaurant is not very good. It was a bit strange that they brought out cold bread, and the dishes overall just weren’t up to par. The flavors felt confused and didn’t come together at all. The service itself was pretty good, but the food really brought down the entire experience. I also think it’s a little strange that they offer valet parking, considering they’re far from fine dining. Overall, everything just felt a bit confused.

Absolutely amazing! We celebrated our baby’s baptism here and everything was perfect, the food was exceptional, the service, and every detail was truly flawless. Faith and the staff went ABOVE and beyond to make the day so special for our family and guests. Truly unforgettable! One of the best events we’ve ever thrown.

This is a rustic and trendy restaurant located in Rocky Hill. One thing we noticed upon entering was that the tables were too close together. It’s like everyone is sitting right on top of each other so there isn’t much privacy while dining. When we received our menu the one thing we noticed is that there wasn’t much of an appetizer selection. They can use a couple more additions to the menu. We ended up ordering the octopus and the roasted beet salad with watercress, candied pecans, and goat cheese. The octopus was very good, but the roasted beet salad wasn’t good at all. First off the salad didn’t have any dressing so pretty much it was like you were eating dry watercress. The goat cheese was crumbled, and it would of been better if they gave you a nice piece of it on the top instead of crumbling it over the salad. Either way a salad without dressing isn’t good period! For entrees we ordered the lamb chops and the strip steak which came with house cut fries. We also ordered a side of Mac and cheese. The lamb chops was by far the best dish of the night! It was OUTSTANDING! They were high quality double cut lamb chops seasoned and cooked to perfection! They were so good that was I was talking about how good they were for the rest of the night! For steaks they use Pat La Frieda meats which is considered a high quality place to get meats from. I find Pat La Frieda not to have good steaks. I have eaten them on multiple occasions, and I have found them to lack tenderness. Pat La Frieda steaks are much too dry like and thick, and like I said lacks any tenderness. A better option for this restaurant is to get their steak from Allen Brothers. Allen Brothers by far carries much better steaks than Pat La Frieda. The strip steak was seasoned good, but the quality of the steak really wasn’t good. The fries were ok. We found them much too thin for our liking. The Mac and cheese side was so good! I’m so glad we ordered it as a side! For desserts we had the warm chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and the coconut cake with cream cheese icing. The warm chocolate chip cookie was so good! It would of been even better if it was made a little bit thicker, and not as thin. The coconut cake came with most delicious cream cheese frosting ever, but the actual cake was too dry. The cake needed to be more moist, and it would have been the best dessert! The neighboring table was telling us that they felt the cake was too dry as well, but loved the frosting! Overall, we enjoyed most of everything we had here. I wouldn’t recommend ordering a salad as an appetizer here though for sure! I recommend dining at ONE 53 in Rocky Hill!
