I’ve been coming to On The Border in North Brunswick for about 25 years, and it’s been a few years since my last visit. I never got around to posting a review before, but coming back after so long really reminded me why this place has lasted all these years.
It’s got that same nostalgic feel, and the food has stayed consistent for decades. Nothing fancy, just honest, comforting food that feeds the soul. That consistency is probably one of the biggest reasons they’ve survived and stayed loved by so many.
Today’s visit stood out because of our server, Jenna. She was outstanding from start to finish. Her attention to detail, warm attitude, and genuine care really made a difference. I go out to eat a lot, and it’s rare to see service this polished and effortless.
Huge credit to On The Border for keeping that spirit alive after so many years, and special recognition to Jenna for delivering the kind of hospitality that’s hard to find these days.

This was my second time visiting On The Border, and once again, I had a great experience! The place wasn’t too crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. I tried something new this time — while the food didn’t feel super fresh, the flavor was still really good. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite spots!
Huge shoutout to our waitress Toni — she was so sweet and welcoming. Honestly, having someone like her around is one of the reasons I came back. The restaurant should be proud to have such a lovely team member!
And the dessert… wow! I had the fried Oreos with vanilla ice cream, and they were absolutely amazing. Everything was tasty, the vibes were nice, and the prices were more than fair as always. Definitely coming back again!❤️❤️

We love the chips and salsa that are made there at the restaurant fresh every day, the margaritas are delicious and they have so many different flavors. The food is really good. I highly recommend it, we come here all the time.

Our experience at On the Border was pretty enjoyable. We were seated promptly even during peak hours. We tried the veg quesadilla, the guacamole rice bowl, the strawberry lemonade. The quesadilla in particular was very tasty and enjoyable. We also tried the tres leches cake. It was a bit dry for my liking but still tasty. Overall would visit again.

Even though the food might be expensive, you get so much value for the food it almost feels impossible to finish. The dine in has significantly more food then the takeout, but the food was really good other than the tortilla felt a little cold and undone but other then that it tasted great. You can mix and match the rice and beans and even though the vegetarian options are very limited, there is still variety and the live guac and unlimited chips and salsa are always really nice to have. Overall I would recommend just be prepared to see lots of meat on the menu so you might have to ask for a vegetarian menu, they were very accommodating to our allergies and restrictions though. The drinks were really good too, as they are constantly serviced them.

We loved the one on Lenox Rd in Atlanta, GA. It was our family restaurant, but unfortunately, they closed it last year. They had the best Margaritas and made their tortilla chips in the house where we could see… service was great, same waitresses for years!
