My biggest complaint is that they asked if we wanted sparkling or still water, we said still was fine, and they brought us out bottled water which we were charged $8 per bottle…tap water was not even offered until the end of the meal. $8 for water that I didn’t even request is outrageous! Felt like they just wanted to get extra money out of us.
I also put on the reservation that it was a birthday dinner, and absolutely nothing was done. No “Happy birthday”, no card, nothing! Disappointing.
Seating was delayed, and service was fine but nothing extraordinary. Hopefully they can improve on some of these things to make the experience better overall!
We got the 11-course option, which lasted 1 hour. Every dish was made right in front of us, and the chef explained each dish. He mentioned the menu changes seasonally, and I definitely am interested in coming back to try the new menu.
Omakaseed is also located near the theater district, and because it’s precisely timed, it’s a great dining option to do before seeing a show.
Our chef was talented and shared interesting stories about each dish.
The interior design was stylish and ideal for a date.
All vegan and nothing is made to taste like meat.
The real downer is that the this is a money machine that tries to push maximum people through: the second we set down, we were supposed to eat the first course. Done, next. After two courses, I was looking for a waiter to actually order a drink. Got my beer after 5 courses. We forgot about that throughout but were reminded at the end: 1 min after finishing the last course, the bill came and we were asked to leave because of next seating. We spent 1 hour and 10 mins here (the 15 course version). For 100 dollars plus drinks and tip, that’s just not a great experience. Give me 10 mins to arrive, read the drinks menu, get a drink, then start. And maybe give me a 10 mins after the last course to reflect on by dinner, talk with my date, and maybe propose we have a beer at the bar if we want another drink.
So yeah, would I come again? No.
