I came here for my friend’s birthday for the Omakase and it was absolutely spectacular! We were visiting from NYC so we’ve all had a fair share of good omakase. However, Omakase Shoji blew all of our expectations! We got to meet Chef Shoji himself who is incredible knowledgable about the different cuts of fish and the art of sushi and overall made our experience extremely fun. The cuts were very generous and we loved how this was a traditional Japanese experience. We loved the restaurant so much that we came later in the week during our trip for the Izakaya bar food (has a different offering for a more affordable price) and the food there was also delicious. This restaurant will be my go-to recommendation in Chicago!

The best sushi I’ve had in Chicago. I had the Omakase and the food as well as the service was stellar. The chefs were absolutely fantastic and very accommodating as well. They were extremely friendly and added to the experience. The sushi was fantastic, and the presentation was superb. I would highly recommend it, and I would definitely go back next time I’m in town.

This place has a good regular sushi menu that is on the pricier side. Their dons and sashimi tasted really good and the atmosphere was good (even for larger groups).

However for the portion sizes and the location of this restaurant, it is slightly overpriced.

Still worth trying tho! Make sure to book their omakase ahead of time.

We came for restaurant week and while the food was very good, the restaurant week menu was not really a good deal I don’t think. If you’d like to check out this restaurant, you should do so, but don’t come in for restaurant week thinking you’ll get a good deal. We had to order some additional food on top of the menu as we were still hungry. The food is very high quality but portion sizes could be a bit larger at the price point they’re charging. As seen in the photo, we received a 6 piece nigiri but this is not enough food to really get full. Would recommend checking out, not sure if I’ll be back though.

A beautifully designed sushi, omakase, and cocktail lounge nestled in West Town that has some of the best fish in town. Also the drinks are absolutely top notch. Definitely a place to go with a loved one or friends for a great night out. I had one of the sushi sets and there was not a single piece on the platter that was less than amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

This is one of the best Omakase experiences you’ll find in Chicago, especially for the price point. I have only done the Omakase experience but would love to come back and try their regular bar as well, the regular rolls looked incredible.

The tasting menu option however is phenomenal! I didn’t have a single bite that I didn’t enjoy. The chefs are fantastic with their prep and explanation of each dish and provide such a wonderful experience.

Highly recommend Omakase Shoji if you’re looking for a fun and interactive dinner option!

Traditional Omakase , the same you would experience in Japan, but every dish is a banger. This was one of the best omekases I’ve done. If you’ve been to sushi suite, sushi by scratch, sushi by bou etc, you’ll likely find this place better. Service was on point, fish for me was flown from Hokkaido and Spain , chefs prepare in front of you. Don’t forget the bar , cocktails are made perfectly, I would go early to grab one at the separate bar. Overall 5 star Michelin level place, highly recommend! Expect to pay 300 a person after tax and gratuity

This place is incredible. One of the best food experiences i’ve had. Yes, this was my first Omakase in Chicago & yes it was everything I thought it would be and more. Both chefs were extremely personable and cannot stress enough the quality of food they prepared. 10/10 – absolutely worth the money.

Wow! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. Both chefs crafted each course with precision and deep respect for the ingredients. Every bite was a journey— fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you’re looking for an unforgettable omakase, this is the place!
