They have a great cocktail and wine menu, but as the designated driver I stuck to the N/A drinks. Luckily they have one of my top 3 N/A cocktails- red ferrari (think negroni).
The food was fantastic. I highly recommend starting with a meat and/or cheese plate (we did both) then do a Round 2 of small plates. For us it was a few salads. All were good but I especially liked the chicories salad with Caesar-like dressing. Next we grabbed entrees. It was hard to narrow down to one option so I ended up doing a split plate situation and shared the gnocchi and the chicken plate. The gnocchi was pillowy with a perfect amount of mushrooms and carmelized onions. The chicken thigh had crispy skin and the potatoes were smooth and buttery which paired nicely with the chard.
Sadly, there was no space for dessert so I’m just dreaming of the Basque cheesecake, but guess that just means a return trip is needed.
One order of charcuterie is enough for one person. The regional ones are a great option. The presentation and quality was great. We also got the Pheasent liver pate with foie gras, it was melt in your mouth satisfying!
Service, atmosphere, and food was all amazing. Highly recommended!
As for the rhubarb pie, it’s a showstopper. Guests appreciate the tartness of the rhubarb, which shines through a perfectly flaky crust. The addition of vanilla ice cream takes it to another level, offering a creamy contrast that enhances the pie’s sweetness. Overall, patrons are leaving with satisfied smiles, eager to recommend both dishes to friends. The atmosphere is lively, filled with chatter and laughter, making it clear that Olympia Provision is a hit for comfort food lovers.
My husband had the grilled cheese, which was toasted on both sides and not greasy at all. He was extremely pleased. I had the three cheese board, which was delightful. I wish we hadn’t visited there in the middle of the day, otherwise I would have tried the rhubarb mead. Definitely want to return here again for a mini celebration!
The service was slow even though the place was dead. I also ordered olives and that was totally forgotten. Why didn’t my tea come with cream and sugar? I wasn’t even offered. I had to pour my own water. All of this is fine, except:
They charge 20% autograt to your bill no matter what, which I don’t think we were told beforehand. Tips should be optional and at my discretion, not yours. My bill ended up being over $50 because the tip add was after tax (another obnoxious thing that shouldn’t be standard practice).
Even though I liked what I had, I am not sure I’d recommend or go back.
