Thursday 26/11/25 – We were visiting Bridport on an overnight stay. We had done some research & knew this restaurant had a great reputation. Walking round we found it but it was closed prior to opening. A local resident saw us & said “Best Place to Eat in Town”( She wasn’t wrong! ) I phoned just after 6pm on the off chance & we got in!
Tapas Night – Wow! From the start to finish Great friendly staff, Great atmosphere. Truly delicious food. Homemade Hummus, frittata, Garlic Prawns, Mussels in white wine & caramelised onions & herbs. Fish dish – Trout & lamb slow cooked & crispy crushed potatoes. & dessert!
It was all such a festival for the tastebuds & Great value !
If / When we return we will seek to try the main menu.
Would recommend booking, to avoid disappointment!

Had a really nice meal here on Friday night. Food was very nice. Starters we opted for Prawns which were cooked in a curry based sauce, very smooth and rich. The white hake catch of the day was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this dish. The staff were also helpful and kind and explained all dishes and desserts in detail

We held my dad’s 80th birthday celebration at the Olive Tree and it was a truly memorable evening for all 26 family members.

The restaurant accommodated us all downstairs in a lovely private space, which was perfect for our large group. They were very flexible, allowing us to decorate the room ourselves to make it feel special and personal, and they were happy for us to bring our own birthday cake.

We pre-ordered a three-course meal in advance, which was clearly appreciated by the chefs and helped ensure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. The whole event was extremely well organised from start to finish.

The service from the manager and all the waitresses was fantastic – attentive, friendly and professional throughout. The food from the kitchen was absolutely excellent, with every course beautifully prepared and presented.

The Olive Tree made my dad’s 80th birthday celebration truly special. Highly recommended for family celebrations.

This is a great place for seafood. The pizzas are nice too – they have a pizza oven. I recommend the catch of the day. It comes with a nice butter sauce and a nice selection of steamed veg, slightly different than usual, which was quite lovely. If you like mussels, the seafood spectacular is the one to go for. I also enjoyed the fish soup. Attentive service and nice atmosphere. It’s nice either for lunch or dinner. I’ve found, if I just walk in, I won’t be guaranteed a table because it’s quite popular. Best to call ahead and book.

We visited here last night with family, and I have to say it was an absolute gem. Roasted Hake was the catch of the day and it was divine.

A brilliant combination of excellent food, friendly service, and all very reasonable pricewise. we very much appreciated the picture taken, including the bonus selfie

Looking forward to coming back again sometime soon.

Having read the reviews we could not wait to book a table. Wow how i wished it was fully booked. The tapes started of fine but as it went on we were disappointed with the being ask 3 times if we wanted another course after just 4 tapes dishes. We also felt that one member of staff was very sharp and made us feel very uncomfortable. I’m sorry but I can not recommend this place. Very disappointed.

We loved the food here, the chef’s special of the day; fillet of sea bream on a prawn sauce is superb, as is the mussel linguine, the autumn crumble warmed us well. The service was cold on arrival and warmed through the meal even though it felt like we hard to work hard for this. We will return and look forward to a smile or two from the serving team.

The food was great, but would have liked a slightly larger portion on main course. Staff were attentive. Tables about 1m apart, so as this was our first inside restaurant visit post lockdown, I felt a little vulnerable, but that may be me. But the restaurant was full downstairs. I would definitely visit again when in the area, as quality of food was superb.
