Founded by sibling duo Chef Philip Pretty and Lauren Pretty, Olive & Rose is a culinary destination born from their shared passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality.
At Olive & Rose, we reimagined the dining experience as a neo-bistro, where classic French techniques with a twist meet vibrant flavors that are unmistakably Californian. Each dish is a reflection of Chef Philip Pretty’s entire culinary journey.
From sourcing local, seasonal ingredients to minimizing food waste and reducing our environmental footprint, we’re proud to continue the sustainable dining legacy of our sister restaurant, Heritage.

Excellent service and they don’t rush you. The pretty and basic is too sweet for me though. They change the menu regularly. The tart is amazing!

Incredible dining experience at the Olive and Rose for dinner. We walked in to a beautiful dining room and a warm greeting from the hostess. The atmosphere was so cute and I just want my home to be decorated the exact same. The real treat was the food, oh my goodness – the appetizers were delicious and incredibly fresh. For our entrees, we each got the chicken. It was seriously the best chicken I have ever had in my life. With the freshly foraged mushrooms and just with the chicken, I was honestly quite sad that it was over when my plate was cleaned. One person at our table said if it was appropriate to lick the plate clean, they would. To finish with dessert, the mint ice cream is so fresh – best mint ice cream I’ve ever had. Also, pair the food with a delicious “pretty and basic” cocktail, you are set for a perfect evening.
Overall, couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. I wish I could rate them 10/5. They deserve it and I hope everyone gets to experience Olive and Rose!

Such an amazing experience, I went two nights in a row! A reservation is definitely recommended, as this unique spot is small but the vibe is so lovely. Featuring such great farm to table ingredients and an experience, this was truly one of the best meals and wine selections I’ve ever had. Olive and Rose is definitely an amazing spot, highly suggested, and recommended! Staff work to learn your tastes and preferences, and we’re so friendly and personal. It’s not many that learn your name and wine preferences, offering what they remember the next night. Cannot wait to be back!

A perfect fine dining experience in Long Beach. Everything from the drinks and food, to the presentation and service, was immaculate. It is a small mid-century modern dining room in the former Century City Motel on 3rd Street in Long Beach, close to public parking.
We enjoyed all the tastings, from the Crudo to the octopus to the bread with cultured butter, and the bass was also excellent. Another highlight was the Apple Tarte Tarin, which was divine with the Carmel and whipped cream. All the sauces and food tasted fresh and well-made.
The prices are comparable to other date night and fine dining restaurants, so while high are expected and not out of the ordinary.
There is also an outdoor seating area in the interior next to the pool, which is where the bathroom is (even the bathroom was kept very clean and we were pleased to see was also stocked with tampons).
We would definitely go back and try some of the cocktails and mussels.

Finally made it in to Olive and Rose, and it did not disappoint. We were seated chef’s counter and started with the Fruit Punch holiday cocktail and Old fashioned. The FP was clean, balanced, and light, but still identifiably tiki/tropical owing to the Passionfruit. We enjoyed those alone with the grilled bread and cultured butter, which was devoured. I enjoyed the “by the glass” Blanc de Noir sparkling with the gem salad while my companion had the crudo, both excellent. For entrees they had the pork and I the Sunchokes with mushrooms, both expertly prepared and well-balanced. We enjoyed hot buttered rum with dessert (yuzu tart tatin and the marshmallow ice cream, both great but the tart especially so). It was fun to watch the kitchen work and rest assured you are in good hands. Service is warm, efficient, and unpretentious befitting the Southern California tradition and mid-mod vibe. You should eat here.

Lunch review. High quality food with attractive plating and good service. Creative, original choices on the menu. Lunch pricing very reasonable for the product quality. Refined casual ambiance, be aware it’s indoor but temperature will reflect whatever it is outside due to limited insulation and climate control.

The food is amazing, and the service was perfect, every staff member smiles, is attentive, and genuinely cares that their guests have an amazing experience! Chef Pretty and his staff work miracles with their small kitchen space . Every dish we had was sooooo good!! They officially have their full liquor license, and they have beer, a thoughtful wine list, and killer cocktails by their supremely talented beverage director Noah (iykyk.). They also have lots of tables on the terrace for walk-ins!! We can’t wait to see what comes next from this team!!

Great new spot in Long Beach! Major MCM vibes, super cute vibe. Got last minute reservation, sat at the bar and it was really fun to watch the cooks. The fries were insane – the steak too but these fries… michelin star style fries. Great place to support and promote new local restaurants! They also do bagels in the AM, I haven’t had them yet but plan on stopping by soon.
