Extremely Disappointed by Service and Food Quality
⭐ 1 Star Review Olive Garden, Southern Pines, NC
I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at this location last night was so disappointing that I felt it needed to be shared.
The spinach artichoke dip was completely burnt and baked into the bowl it wasn’t edible. I even took photos because it was that bad. When we politely asked our server to have the kitchen manager come over and to please comp the dish, she informed us that it was “too busy” for the manager to speak with us. She also said it was too busy to serve our drinks, yet there were only 13 tables occupied in the entire restaurant.
It felt like our concerns didn’t matter, and that’s the most disappointing part. I’ve always associated Olive Garden with warm service and comfort food, but this visit was the exact opposite.
I truly hope corporate reviews this feedback seriously and takes steps to retrain staff on service, communication, and food quality standards. Guests should feel valued and respected, no matter how busy the night is. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be dining at this location again, and we’ll likely take our business elsewhere going forward.
I’m sharing this not out of anger, but in hopes that future guests have a better experience

I went here with my girlfriends. It was a wonderful dinner together. My friend ordered steak cooked to rare, but her steak was overcooked. She asked for a different steak, they brought her another steak and side. This time her steak was cooked exactly to her liking. They made it right! She also got free dessert for her birthday, as a special treat. They treated her really well and were very polite about it.

1 Star – Olive Garden, Aberdeen, NC
We’ve been to this location twice this year.
During our first visit, I ordered the salmon. It wasn’t cooked all the way through, so I had them take it back — but the second plate came out the same way. I didn’t order anything else after that. The bathroom floor was wet, and the host who seated us wasn’t personable at all.
Fast forward to November 1, 2025 which is today – we came again for a family member’s birthday. I decided not to order salmon this time, but another family member did. When it came out, it looked nicely cooked at first. However, halfway through, she showed me the inside — a very noticeable difference between the thin, fully cooked edge and the large, undercooked reddish center. She showed the waiter, who offered to cook another one or let her choose something else. She declined and they removed it from the bill, but still — unacceptable for a dish that should be properly cooked the first time.
While we were sitting there, I also noticed the air vent above our table was covered in dust. It was the only vent on that side of tables at the restaurant, and none of the others looked like that — which was concerning. No other table on that side had a vent above it. The other tables on that side were opened so why would the staff seat us there? We were seated near artwork of a white bike, construction/manufacturing art, and blue and purple grapes.
To top it off, there was a knife lying on the
floor just outside the kitchen that several people seemed to overlook. And as we were leaving, a worker kicked a piece of ice across the floor — it slid right into the walkway as one of my family members was passing by. I looked at him without saying a word, looked at the ice on the floor for a significant moment and looked back at him. He hesitated, and quietly said, “Sorry.”
That about sums up this location — careless, unprofessional, and lacking attention to detail.
We’ve eaten at the Olive Garden in Cary many times and always had great experiences there. Unfortunately, the Aberdeen/Southern Pines location is the complete opposite. I definitely won’t be back.
We are experiencing coughing, sneezing and nasal discomfort now. 8:35PM. Two individuals at the table have asthma.

I drove an hour away to this establishment to attempt to celebrate valentine’s day with my girlfriend (we have a kid under a year old so we barely get a night to ourselves). We arrived at 6:30pm to ask the hostess how long it would be to wait for a table of two and they told us “only a little over an hour, most likely an hour and 15 minutes max”. I said “ok great, put me on the waiting list”. I went down the street to get a car wash and within only 45 minutes I had received a text that my table was ready. Unfortunately, I didn’t see it until 7:27pm since they had told us it would be over an hour wait minimum. I checked my phone exactly at 7:27pm and called immediately, less than 15mins late (after receiving only one text from them notifying about the ready table). No phone call at all from them, even though they had asked for my number and took it down. I had to call them myseld to find out our table was given away, there was no notification of that. Long story short, our night was ruined thanks to the poor service and the poor co-ordination at this establishment. They clearly do not know how to be a more up class establishment since they severly lack common courtesy. We have a child and had to arrange for my girlfriends mother to babysit for the night. A lost night that both me and my girlfriend will not be getting back anytime soon. Last thing I should mention is, while on the phone when I called them immediately back after the text they sent to ask about If they could still save the table for us, they said with no remorse to us and a slight chuckle even that “we gave your table away since you didn’t answer the text we sent to you in time”. I said “OK, well please tell your manager I will be leaving a Google review about this. Happy valentine’s day”. She replied back in a very patronizing tone “oh great, and a happy valentine’s day to you too” that was all she said, not even any apology for the miscommunication or for giving our table away without any notification or any attempt to reach us to us other than a single text message stating that the table was reary 15mins ago. Well anyways.. Here is my Google review as promised. Thanks again for wasting our time. Good thing that Reds Corner was around the street to serve the good people some good quality food and service and we instead wound up making the best of our night by listening to live music by a nice warm fire. So, we made the best of it but won’t ever be eating here at olive garden again (we were return customers, celebrsted our last anniversary here) after feeling so insulted by the response we got. The Unfortunate situation (things do happen I get it) but the general lack of remorse for our lost time really rubbed us the wrong way. Also would of entirely wasted my gas $ to get to this establishment if it weren’t for Reds corner. Bless the true locals..

My family and I had dinner last night at my daughter’s request after her Christmas concert. We were greeted by the host, who asked how many were in our party. I replied, “Three and a baby.” She asked if we needed a swing for the car seat, and we said yes, unaware that swings were not allowed at booths. When we requested a booth, she responded, “We can’t put swings at booths.” While the policy was understandable, her tone came across as abrupt and dismissive.
After returning the swing, she picked up the menus and placed them on the booth next to us rather abruptly, which added to the unwelcoming interaction. My husband and I exchanged confused looks, unsure if we had upset her in some way.
Fortunately, our server, Ainsley, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and pleasant—which made up for the negative first impression. The food and service overall were great, and we had no complaints there.
As someone who works in the service industry, I believe the host plays a crucial role in setting the tone of the dining experience. Guests should feel welcomed, especially during the brief interaction it takes to be seated. While she may have been having a rough day, it’s important to treat guests with the same courtesy we expect in return.
We were able to speak with the manager on duty, Kingston, who was calm, understanding, and professional. He listened to our concerns, apologized, made us feel welcomed, and even offered a complimentary appetizer.

Ordered the chicken Alfredo. The chicken was a little over cooked and I requested for extra sauce and as you can see the pasta was dry as day. I normally go often and order to go but I will be taking a break. VERY disappointed $30 wasted!

I love olive garden! Hib took me there for my birthday and it was still excellent service and food and atmosphere. Our waitress Kelly was adorable. I will say the hostess, heavy set, who worked on 12/30/25 around 1230 to 130 needed some training on etiquette. Playing with your hair at a food service place just does not cut it. She did not acknowledge us until I spoke first and was told a 10 minute wait. That was fine. She was frumpy and really did not knowledge of greeting people.

This particular Olive Garden was very busy, yet they keep everything moving pretty well. Sue, our server was great! The food was good, and thank goodness they are one of the few chains that keep all restaurants to a high standard! Mu partner in love had the shrimp scampi, with a delicious watermelon sangria, He said it was really tasty and would get it again. Naturally, we had the famous house salad that they are so well known for and the warm breadsticks. it was delicious! I had the Tour of Italy, which included lasagna with meat sauce, chicken parmesan cutlet, and fettuccine in a nice alfredo with sprinkles of freshly grated cheese. I had the minestrone soup, which was a great way to start off with by warming my stomach, along with my raspberry flavored hot tea. We enjoyed definitely our dinner and will come again.

They did get us in fast, and then everything else was fast. By the time we ordered, we received our salad, three minutes later our food was there. Fifteen minutes total. Five different dishes that fast. Plus no room for the plates since we just started our salad. It looked and tasted like a TV dinner that was freshly nuked with radiation. The most expensive TV dinner I have ever had. Update 5 years later, nothing has changed. Front entry smells of sewage. The waitress was no where around once order was taken. The salad was not fresh and was bag lettuce. Food is not fresh, microwaved frozen food. Not worth $20 a plate. Looks like I will check back in another 5 years to see if they are even open anymore. I don’t recommend this restaurant.

Olive Garden used to be good, but not anymore. The past few times we have gone has not been good. My grandma ordered the shrimp Alfredo and it was so dry she couldn’t eat it. The manager took her meal off the bill and did not offer to replace it. The salad was horrible with mostly white lettuce. Our server said they only had 3 breadsticks and would have more soon. Never got anymore. I requested my eggplant to have marsala sauce, they were out of that, so I asked for Alfredo. When we go our food my pasta had Alfredo and my eggplant had marinara so I sent it back. I had asked for a meatball on my pasta, the first plate had it, the second plate did not. We were in a big hurry and I had to put all my food in a to go plate. And didn’t think about the meatball until I was paying the bill. So I payed $1.79 for and meatball I did not get. And my grandma only ate salad and a bread stick. Our server was nice though. But we are not planning to go back.
