Yesterday was my first time at Olexa’s and the experience was great. Our waitress was very helpful with her recommendations for a first-timer. She recommended the Smoked Turkey Sandwich with a side salad. It was delicious and came out quickly given there was a full house at lunchtime. We also had a slice of the quiche of the day which was also delicious. By the end of my meal, I was very full but of course, there’s always room for dessert. She raved about the cake and it did not disappoint. I had a slice of the warm buttercream cake. It was so good!! I’ve been raving about Olexa’s since yesterday and will return with family and friends.

Olexa’s has been my go-to cake place for years. I think they have the best flavored cakes in Birmingham. However, the last couple of cakes I’ve ordered have had significant cracks in the icing. And this last time it looked really terrible (see pics). I was so embarrassed because this was for my stepmom’s retirement party. I had to attempt to squish the icing back on the cake so it wouldn’t fall off before we ate it. The cake only traveled 10 minutes, then sat inside in the a/c. So no reason for the issue at all. For $68, I expect a cake to look good for a couple of hours.

I’ve had wedding and birthday cakes from Olexa several times before and I thought I would try them again. The cake was disappointing, the batter had been over mixed or it had too much baking powder. There were so many air bubbles the cake was dry and the flavor was lacking. Im not sure, but this cake did not taste like the ones from the past. The frosting was tasty and buttery. However, the service was impeccable as always and they’re very friendly here.

If your interested in going to France (in Mountain Brook, AL) this is the place to go. The ambience and setting are stellar and the wait staff and cooks treat you like family. The food choices are plentiful and the taste of everything I ordered (White chicken chili; chicken salad – salad, and carrot cake) was other worldly good! I mean really good. The carrot cake was the best I’ve had in terms of taste. moisture, and frosting. I will be ordering at least one cake per month the rest of my life! Yes – it was that good. If you are anywhere near Birmingham – you have to try this chic and amazing cafe!

Diane Olexa & her team were so wonderful for our wedding cake! They arrived to the venue earlier than expected and decorated our already beautiful cake with (real) flowers that matched our greenery/white theme! We are so thankful to them for being a part of making our big day so great! There was an accidental mix up with a part of the cake but Diane more than made up for it after the fact and the cake was still just as delicious the way it was made! Thank you so much!

I’ve ordered a couple of cakes here lately, and they have been so delicious and fresh. I’ve also had such a good experience talking to the bakery staff on the phone. Whoever I’ve spoken to has been so so kind, knowledgeable, given helpful info or suggestions on decorations and whatnot. It’s just such a pleasure to buy and enjoy a cake from here.

I recently stopped in for lunch on a Friday. I’d never been but both the posted and word of mouth reviews were so good I had to try it for myself. I was not disappointed. They were crowded with several parties celebrating events but I was seated quickly.
