It was my first time visiting Old Town Italy in Menlyn after passing by it many times, and I must say the décor and aesthetic are beautiful. The place has a ok atmosphere, perfect for a quiet work breakfast or meeting. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.
However, I was disappointed that they didn’t have any milk alternatives. I’m lactose intolerant and usually ask for low-fat or almond milk, but they had none. I even suggested to one of the waiters that since there’s a Woolworths and Spar nearby, they could possibly get some, but the request was brushed off. I ended up drinking what they offered, even though it didn’t sit well with me. At some point I almost went to buy my own, but decided against it, it shouldn’t be that much of a struggle, I expected more inclusivity for different dietary needs. It’s not about being fancy, some of us have health reasons for our choices. For a restaurant of that standard, I expected a bit more consideration for dietary needs.
The breakfast itself was okay, nothing special, and not something that stood out. I also noticed part of the ceiling near the entrance was damaged, which took away from the otherwise lovely setting. Overall, it’s a nice-looking restaurant, but not one I’d rush back to.

What a terrible experience! Decided to dine here because the food and service were always amazing and they used to have a great menu with Gluten Free options. Were not even aware of the lunch special which is a great value for money, HOWEVER, they did not have an ingredient for one of the pizzas. They just decided to substitute it and not bother telling me. I queried this with the waiter who was also unaware. Lack of training and communication. No Gluten free options available either today. It was so much better before Life & Brand took over. The big store where La Parada is now was always a fave! Definitely won’t be seeing me again. What was once amazing has definitely become the forgotten child. Do better guys. . .

A lovely experience. The seating area is nicely decorated with plastic plants hanging from the sealing, paintings on the walls and nice looking furniture. The food was great and was served in a decent timeframe. Our server was very friendly. They do serve different types of alcohol including cocktails, wines and beers. The menu is diverse with very cheap options as well as very expensive options. They also have a big screen which shows sports.

Overall meh with a few mishaps here and there.
I ordered a beef hamburger (asked for medium) and the burger was well-done. It was pretty bland, I found myself using the pasta condiments to get some sort of flavour. The chips were oily and some were pretty hard.
My family ordered pastas, also bland. Unfortunately, one of our pastas didn’t arrive because the waitress forgot to put it on the system. That was cool (for us) but not ideal.
I’m allergic to legumes and developed bumps around my mouth after eating the burger…I’m not sure if peas or nuts came into contact with my food?
The saving grace was definitely the vibe, service from Barbara and the tiramisu.
Will I be back? No but glad I stopped by.

My partner and I ordered the Parmesan Chicken and the a Pasta dish. Both were substandard, the Parmesan Chicken (which I’ve had in the past here) was so overcooked I was unable to cut through the chicken breast with a knife. Meanwhile the pasta was undercooked. When the manager was called, all he said was that he’ll tell the kitchen staff to prepare the meals better for other customers that will be coming in. I can’t believe this was my experience given that the restaurant was not busy. Having been to Old Time Italy in the past my experience this time around was really disappointing. Never again. 4/10

A very good Italian restaurant! You won’t regret it! I’m in love with this place, with its industrial-artistic décor (fancy restroom too—that is now shared with La Parada) and excellent service. The pasta was really good! I ordered Penne con Pollo e Pesto and pizza (Giardino) , which were absolutely delectable; there was no need to add salt—nothing! They were perfectly good already ✔️
This was my second time coming there; early on, there was a “mini shop” that sold some Italian culinary stuff, ingredients, etc. Now it’s no longer there.

Came here for dinner! We reserved for outside, only to find out that the outside was still inside the mall I dont think this should be an option on dineplan as it was quite deceiving for us.
We ordered the diavola pizza (this was tasty!) melanzane (was really nice, just needed a bit more salt and tanginess from the sauce) seafood pasta (was great! No fishy aftertaste and it really went down well) and the beef short rib tortellini (this was good. But the portion was way too small for its price)
We also had the cannelloni which was quite tasty not overwhelming sweet and just balanced. The manager came to check up on us oftenas well as the waitress, the service was great. Thank you!
