The food is just okay and the cost to eat here is outrageous! Forty bucks for two burgers with fries! The menu shows the price as $14.95 each so you’re paying $5.05 per burger in “taxes & fees”! That’s 34%!
The burgers are prepattied and the fries get soggy before you can eat them. The main dishes are cafeteria style food at best. Veggies are canned or frozen.
The really aggravating thing about this establishment and the main reason I will avoid it in the future is the fact that they just take your money without even asking! There are fees on all card transactions so you want to pay cash. Then they just give you back whatever they want, deducting a significant gratuity. I always tip but it should be up to me what I give!
Even on a take out order, you wondering why your change was short compared to the prices on the menu, then you look at your receipt and realize they just took it!
I guess they think you won’t notice. This is a terrible business practice and I recommend avoiding this establishment on principle alone.
Not all customers are rich tourists. Some of us are trying to survive in this economy and work hard for our money. It won’t be long until these greedy restaurants won’t have any regular, local customers. They should be giving us a discount! Now overcharging us!
My wife and I run a hotel in the area and we are always looking for ways to give discounts to loyal customers not ripping them off! We won’t be recommending this restaurant to any of our guests in the future.

Started off bad. We were promptly seated but took forever to get a server. Servers running around but not really organized. People waiting for checks, paying, and food took forever. When the server finally arrived she was very rude. Saying “what do you want” we ordered our drinks and ordered food at the same time since it had been so long. When she brought the drinks she forgot my ice water and I politely said I had an ice water too and her reply was “I only have two hands” .
My wife had coffee and after drinking the first cup I placed her cup at the edge of the table and no one ever refilled while I counted 11 passes by our table by servers. I finally stopped one and asked for a refill they brought it but did not say a word even though I said thank you.
One note is people that came in way after we did received their food eat it and had left but they were seated at the bar which appeared to be locals and it appears they are served first
The saving grace here is that the food was good even though the portions were small.
We are here for a week but won’t return just due to the rude staff which is unfortunate.

Update -**** Bill said $39.42 but when they run my credit card it was for $40.60 why the $1.18 add????? If this is done on every bill that adds up through the day. Seems like a very shady business practice knowing people are not paying attention. Check your bill.

Ordered chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich, they have taken our customized order for sandwich and it was yumm! Have got fries as well along with our servings, their secret sauce is a must try. Good ambience and staff were friendly.

We stayed in West Yellowstone for three days and ended up coming to Old Town Cafe every single day — that’s how much we loved it! The food was consistently amazing — we tried the bison burger with waffle fries, huckleberry lemonade, and chicken wings, and everything tasted absolutely delicious.

The place has great music and a fun, welcoming vibe — really captures that relaxed West Yellowstone energy. The staff were friendly, the portions generous, and it quickly became our favorite spot in town.

Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Had dinner here. One of the more popular restaurant.
Place was packed. Order elk medallion and fish & chips. Food was ok – no real wow factor.
First they got the salad wrong and it was hard to get the server.
Many people hanging out behind the wall at the kitchen instead of standing on the main floor. Many had their eyes down and not observing patrons. Was hard to get their attention.

Stopped in for lunch. Quick service. We both got the Old Town Philly, mine without the peppers because I’m not a big pepper fan. Yeah, I know..boo! However, my husband’s Philly had peppers and they were cubed, so I probably would’ve eaten it as is.

Was expecting tough, chewy meat, maybe some bits of fat. Nope! The steak was cubed as well and it was seasoned just right. Wish I knew what they used because it was delicious. Fries were also good.

If we had more time in West Yellowstone, we would come back.

I had high hopes for this place. Our sever was nice, but made several mistakes. I asked for the BBQ burger, but I’m not sure what I got. It definitely wasn’t what I ordered. It was good, though. My daughters had burgers, too, and I asked for them to be served plain and cooked medium. They came with mayo on them and cooked well done. Those things were all forgivable, but my husband’s meal was not. He ordered the chicken fried steak, and that meat was cooked to a burnt crisp. He tried to cut it and chew it even, and it was like rubber. We sent it back, and while the second round was cooked less, it was still terrible. The only redeemable foods were the fries and onion rings. Those were decent at least.
The atomosphere was good, but with the bad food and poor service, I would not go back to this place.

We waited way too long to eat and decided this was the place in front of us and that was that. Three other meals in town had been fried-diner-style-heavy. We needed a change. Our server, Jess, was amazing and had no problem getting our order to us surprisingly fast. We had the Corn Chowder with side salads and my wife added a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. It was fresh and fantastic! We did regret not ordering the waffle fries when we saw them. We will be back.

Nice breakfast place. The server was very attentive. We started with some coffee. The old town breakfast was a basic one, but very filling. The egg, sausage links, pancakes, and potatoes are a killer combination- although a bit greasy and carb- heavy. The food was freshly prepared and served hot. The washroom was clean. Overall, we had a nice breakfast time here, and highly recommend.

When we first walked in we were left unattended for a bit and we wondered if we made the right choice. We’re so glad we stayed! We ended up eating at the bar. Another good decision. Steve, the bartender, seemed aloof at first but it turns out they were short staff and he was just very focused. He made sure all of his tables and the bar were being well taken care of. He’s a pretty funny guy too! I had a great tasting, very reasonably priced rib eye and my wife had a flat iron steak she raved about. We’re not staying long enough to go back but would if time allowed. Thanks Steve! You made for a great dining experience!
