Reviews
Service was good but again nothing really stood out as being excellent.
Extra points for the atmosphere, great choice of music.
Decided to swing by tonight when we were in the area heading back into Yorkshire.
Arrived to a busy buzzing restaurant and I can only describe the atmosphere as *I’m on holiday in America*
We sat in front of the bbq section and watched platters plated up.
We ordered the pitmaster for two.
We noticed the food that were being plated up was sat under a heat lamp whilst waiting for another component to be ready part of the platter …Because of this the food sat there and the platter that came to us arrived lukewarm, as it was sat there a while… The external was warm… But by the bone of the rib was lukewarm.
The flavour itself is very very good!!!
Belly pork had fat, flavour, and fell apart.
Beef brisket, when we saw it being plated up… It looked dry but be assured it was moist and flavoursome.
Bbq ribs soft and very tasty.
Highlight was the pulled pork!!!
Sausage… Not to my liking sorry, it’s not a British banger nor is it a Frankfurt… I can only describe this a an American bbq sausage?
Fries… Not your average fries! Crispy and the seasoning on it is tasty… They were also very well drained of oil!
As for the bbq sauce and beans… Yum!!!
After the meal …I believe the manager came to speak to us and regarding the temperature…I assured him that the feedback regarding the temperature of the food is not a complain, he appreciated the feedback and we had a good chat about food!!
Highly recommend and I’m sure next time we go this review will turn into 5*
First time we came for the wings because we thought they looked really good on the promos…unfortunately after we have realised that it was AI and the wings were similar to those you’d get at Wetherspoons and not all that tasty.
Second time we thought right let’s do what they do best. We turned up 10 mins early and were told to grab a drink at the bar…20 mins passed and everyone else was being seated at the host stand so I went and asked and they’d just forgot we were there!
We tried the pit master tray for £70 and were severely underwhelmed. The food came out far too fast….now you might be asking why I wouldn’t be happy with that – it’s because it was all clearly sat under hot lamps and drying out for ages waiting for an order to come through. I’m talking 5 mins after ordering it all arrived. Chicken thighs were tasteless, the ribs we completely left by us because they tasted reheated which was awful – it takes a lot to not even bother eating it.
Sides were also poor – forgot the slaw completely and the bbq beans were literally just baked beans. I’d have let someone know if they came to ask but they didn’t.
We did enjoy the pork belly and the brisket was okay if not a little dry. But we tried to enjoy it.
After we finished we were then left to it…for around 40 mins? No drinks, no desserts, nothing. Eventually I walked up to the front desk to pay.
Such a shame because the venue looks cool but in all honesty save your money and just go to hickory’s.
Tbh, it took time for staff if we wanted drinks, and again some time later for them to arrive. Yes it was busy, I get it, but 30 mins from sitting down to actually getting a drink is a bit long in my humble opinion. Anyway, food ordered and when it came it was lovely. I had the brisket tray and that was bang on. I would happily have it again. Lots of choice food wise. It’s not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. Pecan pie for dessert. Had a few cocktails and had a nice time overall. Staff are friendly, good decor. For am old school bus, it does alright. Recommend.
