We recently came here for lunch as it was a new place for the both of us. I remember it being completely different before. The space is nice and feels inviting. There is a small shop in the front for you to buy little snacks. I had the Italian sandwich, and my friend had the chicken pot pie. We also got some fries to share. The sandwich was nice and simple. I think the Calabrian chile aoli gave it that extra flavor. The fries were pretty good, and I would recommend ordering it.

Came here for $2 oysters and was very satisfied! The drinks are delicious (got the pandan cocktail), the oysters seemed fresh, and the tataki and fries were very good too. Services was prompt. Highly recommend!

Came for dinner / happy hour. The Friday night fish fry here is delightful. Very crispy tasty fish, and the sauce paired with it is perfect. The oysters were divine, super fresh. The drinks were good. Fries weren’t very crisp and maybe could have been cooked a bit more. Good flavor though. The staff here were so nice and attentive, quick service, and I like the clean vibe of the restaurant.

I’m two months late with this review. I treated my mom to dinner here. A first for us both. I’d like to first say that the service from our waitress was personable and attentive. She was very friendly. She recommended a drink that my mom did not like, but she tried to be a good sport. The waitress recognized this and replaced it. If I find the receipt, I’ll update with her name. This was Feb 24th. The serving size of the salad was definitely a shareable size, so we did that and ordered sides. The ambiance was calm with soft lighting. It was a little dim for menu reading, but still a good vibe. The food was interesting and tasty. Street parking.

Here’s a NED-style review for Old Pal:

✅ What Works Well
– Cozy, laid-back atmosphere with a great neighborhood bar feel.
– Solid selection of craft beers and creative cocktails.
– Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders who make you feel welcome.
– Great spot for casual hangouts or after-work drinks.
– Occasional live music and events add to the vibe.

What to Watch Out For
– Limited food menu—mostly snacks and small bites.
– Can get crowded on weekends, making it noisy.
– Seating is limited, so getting a spot during peak times may be tough.

Verdict
Old Pal is a chill spot for drinks with friends, offering good drinks and a friendly vibe. Not the place if you’re hungry for a full meal, but perfect for relaxing and socializing.

I’ve been here twice and both times have been fantastic! The cocktails are lovely and the small plates are fun and inventive. Make sure to get the fries to share, they’re my favorite style of slim and crispy and there is a mountain of them.

Spacious restaurant with modern interiors/vibe tucked away on a busy intersection of Belmont. No reservations but we walked in without issue on a Sunday night. While the pasta selection is limited, everything from apps to salad and the mussels were flavorful and done right. The fries (massive portion for two people) were decent but nothing to write home about. Would suggest getting a salad or other more interesting app instead (unless you just like fries, which is also understandable).

Overall, a welcome addition to this stretch of Belmont.

One of my favorite local spots. All staff members are so friendly, and the food is incredible. They brought the eggs back and added a rockfish sandwich with the best pickled serranos I’ve ever had! Don’t walk, run!

Was here for a wedding this summer and this was a lovely reception. The food was very good, especially the salmon, and was constantly being refreshed and taken care of. Bartenders were quick and attentive making the entire evening a loving experience. Highly recommend for a lunch or dinner, or an event!
