I had breakfast. The inside and outside were clean and attractive. The staff were friendly. The portions were generous. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but was not as hot as I expected. The meal did not appear appetizing. The bacon was crispy, as I requested. The scrambled eggs were OK, as were the waffle and the biscuit. The biscuit was not made from scratch, but it was pretty good. The coffee was excellent! The hash browns were a bit overcooked for my taste, and had an unpleasant taste.

The service is where Old Mill Country Kitchen has a lot of room for improvement. Initially, the service was good. I was greeted, seated, and coffee was provided quickly. After receiving my food, everyone developed intense interest in their phones. I had to walk to the counter to request coffee refills. No one was rude nor did they seem to intentionally ignore me. It appeared that whatever was taking place on the cell phone was more interesting.

I really wanted to leave a better review. Sadly, I am unable to do so. And a “3 star” review may be stretching it a bit. In terms of food, it is average at best, the service was poor, but the facility is clean and attractive.

Lately I have been intentional about patronizing local businesses in favor of chains or franchises. My efforts have been scattered across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. So far, I have been very disappointed with the local businesses. The local businesses have lacked the consistency of food and service quality that is found among the chains and franchises.

The next time I am in Opelika, I’ll seek out another local business and try it. I probably won’t go back to Old Mill Country Kitchen.

Waitress was perfect and restaurant was clean. The two very young cooks served us undercooked chicken. I am doing review so that everyone checks to make sure their food is completely cooked.

Quaint little place, service was very friendly, (Amanda) and the time waiting for food was average. Had to ask for jelly, only to find out the toast wasn’t even buttered. I did ask for my hash browns to be extra crispy and they weren’t crispy at all. Food was average, but I will say that this was the lowest price we’ve paid for breakfast in a long time! For a Saturday morning, I was surprised to walk in and get a seat immediately!

The food is average. Great choice for reasonable priced breakfast. No complaints but nothing to make me return. I’m not sure if I’d recommend the grits, but the 2nd Ave plate was filling. In fact, the biggest pancake I’ve seen are served here. I didn’t taste it because my meal was a plenty. The southern hospitality is well appreciated.

Food was really good. There were only 2 servers working the whole restaurant. We didn’t get our coffe refills until we walked over to the counter to ask for some. Nothing against the server she could only do so much but to the owner maybe hire a part timer for the weekend brunch. IDK if its the acoustics in the restaurant but it is really loud in there, I couldn’t even hear my thoughts. I had the hash bowl, very tasty but small portion.

We’ve had the wonderful experience to be served by Lorena, she’s a wonderful person who’s always very kind. She has extra stars because she’s bilingual and she can always recommend us good options to eat. We feel very comfortable in this beautiful place. Thanks for your amazing service!

Best biscuits, eggs and grits. We had a lovely blonde lady to serve our meal and she kept a watchful eye to see if we needed anything.

I didn’t know for take out orders that you had to go to the counter but after the waitress told us about it everything went fine. The lady at the register was very friendly and nice but she was also very busy. Be prepared to have to wait for the food but I promise you it’s so worth it. I went Monday and got the pork chops and mash potatoes and they were delicious!!!!
Can’t wait to try their breakfast one day.
