We made a reservation for our Valentine’s Day Anniversary, taking advantage of their special Prix Fixe menu, which was $88 per person plus an included service fee. We were impressed by the beautiful historic building, elegant decor, cozy room with a fireplace, and looked forward to a romantic evening celebrating our life together. While we found the menu to be creative and the food amazing, poor service dampened the experience for us. We sat for 45 minutes before a waitress finally acknowledged us, saying, “The hostess forgot to tell me that I have your table.” At 50 minutes we finally had our drinks. Bread was served along with our food and the waitress said, “Sorry, I forgot to bring your bread.” At the end of our wonderful meal, the waitress took our dessert order, then returned 15 minutes later and said, “What did you order again? I forgot what you ordered.” After more waiting, our dessert came and coffee was served but without cream or sugar and there were no offers for refills throughout the entire meal. We paid the high price and automatic gratuity for the priveledge of feeling like an afterthought rather than valued customers. It’s a shame that this restaurant, which has five star potential, falls so far short when it comes to managing and training their staff.

We made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner back in Septemberfor seven adults and one child, with a pre-fixed price of $88 per adult and $36 per child. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the price or the expectations of a “fine dining” holiday meal.

To start, it took 20 minutes just to be served water, even after I got up to notify the hostess. Her response was that we had a “big party,” which shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of basic service.

When rolls finally arrived, they were rock hard, as if they had been sitting out for days. The starters came out cold, with some members of our table having to send theirs back. The entrées weren’t much better. The turkey dinner had a tiny portion of cold mashed potatoes, and those who ordered the beef received it completely cold as well. One person sent theirs back, but the waitresses attitude changed when they send back their starter and their entree back because it was cold, so others didn’t feel comfortable. The turkey dinner consisted of room temp turkey, cold mashed potatos, stuffing with some sort of odd flavor/burnt, and the cranberry sauce, which was absolutely disgusting.

For the children’s menu, the listed options included a starter plus a choice of mac and cheese, chicken tenders, or turkey. Since my six-year-old obviously wasn’t going to eat stuffed mushrooms, kale salad, or soup, we asked if she could have mac and cheese instead of the starter, and were told yes. However, when the bill came, we were charged an extra $5 because they considered it a “second entrée.” Her entire $36 kids meal ,now $41 consisted of three chicken tenders over fries, a small portion of mac and cheese, and no drink offered. She drank water out of a mug. She wanted juice l, but the options were cranberry, grapefruit or pineapple, all in which young children don’t drink. no one offered any kids’ activities—we luckily brought our own coloring book.

Dessert was also disappointing. Most of us ordered the apple pie, only to be told a few minutes later that only two slices were left. The apple pie was stone cold as well and had icing drizzled all over it. Again, we don’t have a problem paying a 5 star price for dinner, but for the dessert, I would have expected warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The desserts that did come out had melted whipped cream and didn’t taste remotely homemade—surprising and underwhelming for a restaurant positioned as high-end.

Service overall was mediocre. No one offered refills, staff rarely checked in, and if we wanted to take leftovers home, we had to package everything ourselves. Some of the staff struggled to communicate in English, which made things more confusing.

Between the $88 per-plate cost, the automatic 20% gratuity/service fee, and the low quality of food and service, the evening felt extremely overpriced and disappointing—especially on a holiday when you hope for a warm, enjoyable experience.

The only enjoyable part of this evening was the piano player- who came to our table to say hello.

I could go on and on about our evening- it was definitely the talk of the rest of this evening and made this years thanksgiving one to remember, and not in a good way.

We made a reservation for 8:15 over a month before our visit. We arrived at 8:17 for our reservation. We received a call from the Inn as we pulled in to the driveway asking where we were and that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. This was strange as we A. Had a reservation and B. Confirmed the reservation on Open Table a few days before. The woman who served us was truly, very nice and told us not to rush but it was clear that we needed to rush! The food was really bad. The Cesar salad was barely dressed and the Bruschetta was served on soggy flat bread with some wet mozzarella cheese and a few pieces of tomato over a bed of wilted arugula. Aside from the kindness of the (seemingly front desk person) who served us, would not recommend sadly

A HIDDEN GEM! Elegant, gorgeous, outdoor space with a jazz band playing at our arrival. The vibe extends from your four poster bed, with marble bathroom flooring, tiles to community sitting areas with couches, family board games (we played an awesome Scrabble), served cinnamon bread and muffins, coffee. Best part you never feel like you are at the beach, you know that musty smell of the ocean in your hotel, this is a solid home from the 1800’s, stunning decor, stunning quiet, my new GO TO forever!
