Old Harbour House was an excellent stop for food during our time in Reykjavík. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and hit the spot after a long day out.
We had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, along with the lobster soup, which was rich, creamy, and incredibly comforting. We also couldn’t resist trying two Icelandic hot dogs with fries, and they lived up to the hype. Simple, flavorful, and very satisfying.
The portions were generous, the food was fresh, and everything came out hot and well prepared. It’s a great mix of local favorites and hearty comfort food, making it an easy place to please everyone in your group.
Overall, fantastic food in a cozy, casual setting. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or a warm sit-down meal, Old Harbour House is definitely worth a visit.

A nice pub right on the harbour, several tours use this as a check in base not always obvious outside for you to find and can cause confusion where to go for your boat trips. The bar had nice beer and a decent selection of meals to choose from. The staff were chatty and pleasant and went out of there way to cook the Salmon for us. Huge TV screens showing amazing 4k footage of Iceland while enjoying your food and drink in a warm pleasant feeling environment. Toilets ok not the best but good enough.

This has to be the best restraunt locally for good quality local fish, food and drinks.

Me and my partner came here after spending well over £100 a restraunt at other places and we ended up having fish and chips together. It was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life and living by the coast in Kent back in the UK I’m very familiar with good and bad cod but this was beyond amazing.

I spoke with the head chef and I told him just how well done our meals were and that he should be very proud of his skills whilst the staff at the bar were very friendly.

We spent around 8000isk which is around £45 at the time on two main meals, a hot dog and two drinks which is the cheapest restraunt we’ve ate at locally in Reykjavík.

Thank you once again to the staff and head chef at this amazing establishment !! 🙂

This is a really cute spot right by the harbour with a lovely maritime, cozy décor that fits the setting. We visited multiple times to try different things and all the food we had was very good! I 100% recommend the lobster soup . Their hot chocolate w/ cream is also heavenly! ☕️

The only downsides were that it’s self-service, and that it can get a little chilly inside (I’m assuming only during the winter).

We stopped hear to pick up our Boat trip tickets. I was impressed by the food and drink option’s and the friendly staff.
On our return we ordered fish and chips and a burger and chips which was cooked to perfection. Dan at the bar also prepared me the famous Icelandic hot dog, all washed down with a nice beer.

After spending half the day out in the cold on a whale watching tour, we found the perfect spot to warm up and recharge. We ordered their fish and chips along with a cup of hot chocolate — and it was heavenly. The hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had, while the fish and chips were perfectly crispy and satisfying. I’d come back in a heartbeat just for that meal!

For the price, it really doesn’t feel worth it. The burger I had was not bad, but it was very average and far from justifying the cost. Overall, the food lacks quality and variety, with very few options available if you actually want to sit down and eat a proper meal.

Another point that negatively affects the experience is the service setup. You have to order at the bar and then go pick up your food yourself. For a place at this price level, it would make much more sense to have table service or at least a waiter bringing the food to the table.

In general, the place has potential, but the food quality and service do not match the prices they charge.

My twin and I got the hot dogs and absolutely loved them. They were made in a matter of minutes and were delicious with 2 types of sauce on it and crispy pieces on the top. They cost 750kr each.
The restaurant itself is a cosy setting overlooking the water.
I would highly recommend coming here.

We took a group of students there for some soup and it was awesome! The atmosphere and setting is awesome, as its overlooking the Harbour. The lamb soup was delicious and the fish and chips were great.

The manager Villi was very friendly and outgoing. He was very attentive and greeted everyone with open arms, while making them feel right at home. Super cute establishment with great food and delicate service, a must do for a meal!

Had fish and chips here the fish was breaded not my favourite! You have to get all your own cutlery etc and actually pick the food up from a counter by the kitchen so don’t expect any service here!!!
