Heard great things about Old Dhaka Coffee House, but the service didn’t live up to the reputation. When I asked for his local food recommendations, he literally just threw his hands up and said, ‘whatever you want here.’ I’m aware it’s a food hall, but I was looking for a genuine recommendation, not a ‘figure it out’ attitude.

Not the kind of welcome you want when exploring a new town. There are plenty of other spots in Beacon with much better hospitality.

Old Dhaka Coffee House is a gem in the Hudson Valley Food Hall and a true reflection of what makes Beacon special. The owner, Vik, is fantastic—friendly, attentive, and passionate about his craft. We first visited on a packed Saturday, and even with a crowd ahead of us, Vik made sure to greet us right away and let us know he’d be with us soon. That little touch set the tone.
The drinks are just as memorable. The Mango Matcha was refreshing and delicious, and we loved it so much we came back a few days later to try more. The Pumpkin Latte and the Date in Dhaka were both outstanding—truly must-try drinks.
On our second visit, it was a slower afternoon, and Vik took the time to chat with us and offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. The combination of incredible drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and genuine hospitality makes Old Dhaka an easy 5-star spot. Highly recommended!

The seasonal rotating menu is always insanely good, and the Nutella Latte is a classic go to. You can tell they source high quality ingredients, my friends rave abou the matcha too!

Old Dhaka is hands down the best coffee shop in Beacon. Most specialty drinks lean too sweet for my taste, but Vic crafts his recipes with a focus on deep, balanced flavor instead of sugar. The Date in Dhaka is a must-try, but even a simple espresso shot is perfectly pulled.

Maybe I don’t know the guy all that well.

But I know this. He knows his way around a cup of java.

Not the rushed, burnt, next in line kind. The measured, dialed in, done with care kind. The kind where the grind matters. The pour matters. The pause matters.

In a world overflowing with coffee spots, this isn’t one you walk past. It’s one you slow down for.

The owner was sooooo sweet and hospitable. Came in on a Tuesday (closed day) and the owner was there and offered to still make the drink which was so sweet. Got a lavender matcha which was incredible. As someone who knows matcha, this place used high quality matcha and made it delicious. Lavender matcha was perfectly sweetened.

Also, not pictured but we tried the rose cardamom chai latte which was also delicious. Nothing like I’ve ever tasted before, not too sweet but super flavorful. I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re interested in some fun drinks or want to support a Bengali business! Thank you for a great experience!

This small business has such an earthy and cool aesthetic, it’s so welcoming. The owner is so kind and attentive, he always takes the time to explain the coffee menu, even during rush hours. I always get the chai latte and the Nutella latte, they’re both amazing.

tucked away in the food hall old dhaka was a real hidden gem for specialty coffee in beacon! the owner, vik (i think if i remember correctly), was very passionate when talking about how he created the latte specials (unique flavors!). i got the date in dhaka latte and it wasn’t too sweet but complimented the coffee very well. vik gets his beans from nyc and you can really tell he cares about the quality of the beans and takes great pride in it. would definitely come back if/add to your list of go to places in the hudson valley! discount if you pay in cash. (*this is my opinion as a specialty coffee barista for 4 years at this point*)

I came from Canada visiting my daughter in New York and went to Beacon on a day trip. I was very excited to come across Old Dhaka Coffee. Being a Bangladeshi I really wanted to show my support but unfortunately the owner was extremely rude and unfriendly.Instead of being wwelcoming like most of the owners are to their customers, he said I have a few people ahead of you. No “hello”. I asked him
which coffee he will recommend instead he seemed annoyed and irritated. I always customized my coffee at other coffee shops and I had no issues with that but with him he did not wanted to do that. I am very disappointed with his attitude.
