Old Colony Smokehouse in Edenton is an absolute must-visit for any barbecue enthusiast. Easily deserving of a full five stars. From the moment you join the line, you know you’re in for something special.
The staff deserves massive recognition; they were incredibly friendly and engaging, turning the wait into a genuinely enjoyable part of the experience. The little touches, like offering line snacks, show they truly care about their patrons’ experience.
When it comes to the food, the advice is simple: get the Sampler. It is hands-down the best way to explore their entire, masterful menu. Every bite is a winner, but the true star of the show is the brisket. I can confidently say this is some of the best brisket I have ever had the pleasure of eating outside of Texas. It was perfectly rendered, smoky, and unbelievably tender.

It was a great experience from beginning to end. While waiting in line they came out greeted everyone, explained the process and gave a sample. The sample was sooo good. It was a pork skin with pulled pork, their pimento cheese and sauce. The line was rather long but moved fairly quickly (to speed up the process, look at the menu online and have in mind what you would like to order). I had the sampler and everything was good, especially the brisket and pulled pork. Don’t forget to try the Cheerwine bbq sauce….mmm mmmmm good! I’ll definitely be returning.

Old Colony Smokehouse is incredible! The food was absolutely amazing—hands down the best brisket and ribs we’ve ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. What really sets this place apart is the owner. He personally talked to every customer who walked through the door, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. If you’re anywhere near the area, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Now this is bbq! From the moment you step out your car you can smell the pits rolling. Everything and I mean every single thing i ate was literally THE best I ever had. I’m talking roll ya eyes back good ! We even got to get a peak at the pits and met the owner and a couple of the guys manning the rigs..

You can smell the rich smoke down the road, and knock you over in the parking lot. So many choices of meat and sides we grabbed a sampler and dug in. Lady at the counter explained everything on the menu, all extremely good, down to the pickled veg. Tasty not salty, real good

They moved to town! We were so excited that they were closer due to us living in Hertford. The food was awesome! The line was extremely long to get inside so we tried the drive-thru. The drive thru was very timely! My husband and I really enjoyed the food and customer service. We will be back! Keep up the great food and customer service!
