As a Korean, finding an authentic Korean restaurant in the East Bay that satisfies my taste buds can be a challenge. But Olchi stands out. Their food is perfectly seasoned—not too salty, not too strong. I could easily identify the well-chosen ingredients, such as high-quality red pepper flakes, similar to those we use in our own kitchen for our family.
We started our meal with a variety of well-prepared banchans. Haemul Pajeon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It came with soy sauce made from homemade pepper pickles. Perfect for a sharable appetizer.
Pork Bulgogi was my favorite dish. It had the perfect balance of flavors—not too strong, but with a rich umami taste.
My vegan friend enjoyed the sweet and spicy crispy tofu, along with the delicious vegetable side dishes.
We shared Budae Jjigae, a hot pot that reminded us of the Korean street food restaurants in our neighborhood in Korea.
To end our meal, we enjoyed sparkling Yuzu and Plum Ades.
I highly recommend Olchi. I’ll definitely be back with my friends and family.
As a Korean from Korea, I can vouch that this place is legit and authentic.
We tried their army stew, beef bulgogi, pork bulgogi, and seafood pancake and everything was bomb.
The owners were super sweet and attentive too! They apparently owned restaurants in Korea too so they know what they are doing.
They have their own parking lot so no need to worry about parking either.
Very highly recommend!!!
