We tried ordering the nigiri sushi and it’s worth the price at around 100/piece! Probably our favorite out of all our ordered food.
Ambience-wise, it wasn’t quiet…there were music playing on the background. But the place was still quiet enough to have conversations.
The only thing that could’ve been better was that we had to follow up on our order 4x. We ordered an additional salmon roll before we started eating and almost an hour in, we still didn’t have it.
But other than that small hiccup, we loved it and would definitely bring friends over next time.
However, there are areas that need improvement, especially when it comes to sanitary practices. During my visit, I noticed that some food handlers were not careful with food handling. They worked without masks and gloves, and there seemed to be no clear distinction between crew members who prepare the food and those who serve it, which can raise cross-contamination concerns.
One incident that stood out was when a crew member used his bare hand to remove dirt from a mango shake, and despite that, the shake was still served. This is something that should be addressed urgently for the safety and confidence of customers.
Overall, Ben San offers good food, fast service, and a spacious setting, but improving sanitation and food safety practices would significantly enhance the dining experience.
My husband and I loved the food, and the prices were fair too. The service was great, fast, attentive, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. I especially loved the light and cozy atmosphere. The only thing I wish they had was a menu with descriptions, so it’d be easier to explore dishes we’re not too familiar with. Still, definitely coming back!
The problem was with the service. While most of our food was served, my mom’s 2 orders of Philadelphia Roll were heavily delayed. We followed up a few times. At one point, the waiter just pointed us to the bar counter without saying anything. It would really help if staff could politely explain or update customers when following up, instead of leaving us unsure. By the time the rolls finally arrived, we were already done eating, which was very disappointing for my mom’s first visit.
The ambiance was also affected because the place feels a bit cramped (tables close together), and there was a very large group behind us that was extremely loud. It made it hard to enjoy the meal, and my dad got irritated with the noise.
Overall, we still think the food is good, but the service and atmosphere need improvement. With better communication from staff and a bit more control over the dining environment, the experience could match the quality of the food.
The food was downright excellent and without preposterous pricing. Sashimi on point and the teppanyaki meats were delicious. Rolls crafted delicately and professionally. And the quality of the tofu was something I’d long been looking for around town.
Plenty of parking in the back or curbside and all payment options covered. Friendly and competent staff. All together, excellent resto worthy of recommendation!
The ramen surprisingly had a large serving portion given the price.
The meats of the teppanyaki and the chashu were tender but not tender enough, wasn’t a surprise because the serving time was relatively rather quick.
Oh, and they have additional parking at the back of the building.
the food taste delicious,
will come back here for sure ..
more parking at the back
friendly staff.
Atmosphere was very nice, very intimate
Service was good too
Food is tastes good and can satisfy cravings. Aside from the roll, there are better ramen elsewhere
Overall it was still a great dinner experience. I caught up with my friends and had a nice evening.
