Okoboji Pancake house… Very Friendly, Great Service I have gone for Lunch ( 2 ) Fridays in a row… Food has a home made perfection. Made with love better than mom could do. The favorite person we like to visit there is Joyce she make us feel like we are long lost friends… WE WILL BE BACK…

This was our first trip to the Okoboji’s Pancake House restaraunt. We had gotten some drinks from Blue Water Java before and had enjoyed those.

They did a great job converting the old bank’s interior into a comfortable seating environment. There are a variety of booths and tables for parties of all sizes.

The staff present were not overly rushed but were happy to be talking with us and bringing us our orders. The new chef did a great job with our pancakes and everything else.

The place is still new, so there are some expected growing pains but the food was tasty, the portions were large, and it was a comfortable, relaxing environment. I would happily eat here again.

The people working are SO nice and friendly and made us smile a lot, but it took 20 minutes to get our drinks, then 40 minutes more for our food. The food was very tasty but arrived cold because of the wait im assuming. Building was very nice and updated but the prices are very very high. I ordered a $18 breakfast and never received my biscuit and gravy.

Very disappointed. The service was terrible, my food was taken to the wrong table , then brought to me. My hashbrowns were not cooked and my husband never got offered any more syrup for his pancakes. I would understand if the place was packed but it was not. I would never come back.

Stopped for the first time today. They told us they were short staffed, but that did not stop the fast and friendly service! Food was great and came very fast. Will definitely stop again!

Very disappointing experience. We had larger party for my father in laws birthday. The service was extremely slow. When our order finally came we were missing several things and had to track down waitress each time. My 6 yr old said something was hurting her leg so we check her chair and a nail was going through the seat. We asked to speak to a manager due to chair. 30+ min later someone showed up who certainly didn’t act like a manager. No apology, didn’t even take or offer another chair!!! Food was ok, but overpriced. Definitely won’t recommend and won’t be back.

We were visiting friends today and had breakfast at the Pancake House. We enjoyed the warm ambience as we sat at an actual dining room table. The food was good. The service exceptional!!! Our hostess Joyce was so friendly, smiling, talking with us. We witnessed her offering an elderly customer her arm as she escorted her and her husband to their table. She is an excellent employee. We will be back again the next time we are in town visiting our friends. Keep up the great work:)

I went to the pancakehouse restaurant this morning. Mrs. Joyce treated me very kindly from the moment I entered the restaurant. A very familiar atmosphere. The very attentive lady treated me as if I were her son. I had never received service in this way in my life. There should be waiters like that. I have been working as a waiter for 12 years and seeing how I provide service made me doubt my experience and my quality as an employee because today she taught me what it really means to provide service. I hope that lady Truly, many blessings to that lady. Excellent service and they should have more employees like her in that restaurant. Take good care of Joyce because thanks to her, the pancakehouse restaurant is one of the best restaurants I had the pleasure to eat.

We were happy to see our friendly favorite host Joyce when we walked in. We were so excited about getting a delicious pancake that we’d had before. BUT it was a buffet only. We loved the pancake so much that we did the buffet because it was the only option. There wasn’t a pancake on the buffet. There was a nothing but few eggs , biscuits and gravy and bacon had just come out. There was not one piece of fruit anywhere to be found. So I basically had eggs and bacon. Everything was gone on the buffet and I didn’t see anyone restocking the buffet at all until Joyce asked one of the cooks how the buffet was doing. We had to ask if they were putting pancakes on the buffet and they weren’t. So for $1.50 more we had our pancake. But the syrup was not the same and was actually horrible (there was sugar granules in it) and neither was the pancake. I’m not sure what happened but this used to be an excellent place to eat. The owner was a very nice lady. We met her on our first trip in. I wonder if it has been sold. Because it is not the same place. Sadly I wonder if the problems that we encountered is a staffing problem. The wait staff was terrible. We had to ask for drinks but they had three people cleaning a table. The one gal had combat boots and drug them when she walked everywhere like a child. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. We hate to say it but we probably won’t be back for a while. I’m not sure if it’s new ownership or management. They had great food at one time. I hope they get back to it. Honestly we might come back just to say hi to Joyce.

The hostess was very pleasant, but that’s the only good thing I can say. The service was extremely slow and it took 20 minutes to get coffee. The buffet had an average amount of poor food. For being a pancake house, we didn’t get our ONE pancake until we were done with our meal and the pancake was thin and crispy on the edges and raw in the middle. To top it off we paid $54 for two people. I wondered why the parking lot was empty on a Saturday morning in July and now I know.
