For lunch ordered something fast, so went with their wraps. I thought I was eating hospital food. It was plain and bland.
Dinner ordered the chicken and beef fajita platter for two. The main star of the plate, the fajitas, were disappointingly flavorless. The meat was slightly overcooked. The rice and beans were the only things that we enjoyed off of the plate. Extremely disappointed especially for the price.
The blue corn muffins were a nice surprise and really good.
The green chili burger did not disappoint, it was a nice thick patty topped with an ample amount green chilis. It was exactly what I’d been looking for.
The Chicken sandwich I am told by my companion was very good as well, lots of flavor.
The fries were plentiful.
We had the prickly pear wine margarita, it was good.
The meal is a delightful complement to a day of pampering, making it an absolute must-visit after your spa experience.
So my wife and I went to Ojo Caliente in early February as an Anniversary trip. We wound up staying in a Cliffside suite and were blown away with the room! We loved the hot soaking tub in the back patio of our room. It was very relaxing being able to wake up and soak in the hot tub, or come back to the room late at night and soak.
The mineral pools were really relaxing and soothing. The hotel’s policy is “whisper-quiet” conversations, and they will ask you to quiet down or leave if you are a disturbance to the other guests. It sounds bad when you read it, but you have to keep in mind this hotel is meant for pure relaxation and being away from distractions. That means that children are not welcome in this hotel, although there is a sister hotel where they are welcomed.
My hot stone massage was very comfortable. Louda G was my massage therapist, and she was just an amazing individual who really loved her profession! All of the other hotel staff was really nice.
The food was…underwhelming. My wife and I ordered a steak and eggs, a breakfast burrito, and had a French toast dish for dessert. Her steak was over-cooked and had very little seasoning. My breakfast burrito was very bland. I can’t hate on the restaurant only as the other restaurant we drove to had a similar bland taste to their food as well. We just felt that for what was charged, the money was not well spent on the food at the Ojo Caliente Restaurant.
All in all, this was a very good relaxing vacation. We stayed 1.5 nights, and we don’t think we could spend any more time there. There is not a lot to do unless you want to go hiking or driving to explore the area. We would like to return again in the future, but we feel that there are other destinations we would like to travel to first before making a return visit.
