Had the Sakedon with miso soup and seaweed salad on the side. It was quite delicious and filling. The free barley tea was great as well. Can’t wait for my next visit!

0/10 I’ve never seen someone act so rude. If you want to establish a no-sharing rule, please put that somewhere visible or communicate it politely to your customers, that’s basic decency. We were a group, and my friend suggested that I try her soup to see if I wanted to order the same thing. The guy reacted so strongly to the idea of us sharing food, it was weird. He made her get it as takeout instead of letting us dine in and he kept rudely cutting me off while I was speaking. Needless to say, we all left.

This Lawrenceville treasure really satisfies in more than one department. Their food is fresh, consistent, flavorful, and satiating. Service is far about the average expectation, professional, and quick. The atmosphere trends on the smaller side, but is most certainly not a deal breaker. In the warmer months, the personal outside seating is a real pleasure. Unless restrictions prevent you, fear nothing on their menu. It’s all taste bud approved. This is not a place for big social gatherings, or even medium sized groups, but rather a more personal setting (a friend or two). If you’re a local, live in the surrounding area, or just passing through, my recommendation is to plan a visit.

We ordered take out on a Sunday evening and it was ready in 15 minutes! The domburi were abundant portions. I got the shrimp domburi and the breading was delicious and fried to perfection. It’s a minute walk from Lolev brewing and we’ll definitely order take our from here often.

The food is good. No complaints there. The service is another matter. After we ordered, we watched the cashier start a full on argument with the next customer in line who was ordering an appetizer and an entree. The cashier asked him something like “and for her?” And he explained that they were going to share the food. The customer tried way too hard to get to order the food, he asked if he could just order take out… no… if he could just order for himself only and eat there… also met with a no… he literally begged to get to place and order… no. It was so weird. The guy ended up swearing and storming out, and rightfully so.
Now mind you, we had gone in with our children and had ordered three meals and two soups. We always order things to share otherwise half the food goes to waste.

Ended up being a very uncomfortable meal for us because the cashier glared at us the entire time with such intensity… clearly he realized that we were breaking his unposted rule.

We will definitely never be back.
I don’t understand how this restaurant thinks this policy benefits them. They’re not losing any money when people share food. They are losing money when people don’t buy any food at all and tell their friends about their bad experiences.

Super clean place with amazing food! Portions were huge and totally worth the price. Had to take leftovers home!

What a cool little spot! As soon as you walk in your greeted by the best smells.

The unagi bowl comes with a legit full flank of eel and the pickled veggies are so bright and crisp.

Definitely worth a journey into the city.

Mystery date… LUNCH?! Yup. Switching it up today. Every other week I pick a restaurant and tell my wife when to be ready and how to dress but not where we are going. This week we did lunch at Oishii Donburi.

I got the Bulgolgi Bimbimbab. The egg was perfectly gooey inside the beef was super tender and the veggies were packed high. The spicy Korean sauce added a nice kick and I’m glad it came on the side.

I also got the Kyoza and the soy sauce it came with was smoky and so damn good. Some of the best fried dumplings I’ve had anywhere.

My wife got the Bulgolgi bowl and it was incredible. The onions were so plentiful and yummy.

We saw someone order the katsudon and it looked incredible we have to come back!

I absolutely love this place. The Curry Katsu is my go-to, but I have tried a number of other things on the menu. Of all the places that I have gotten Katsu in Pittsburgh, Oishii Donburi has been the best. I would definitely recommend this place.

This place is awesome. Their focused menu and perfect execution provides an excellent, flavorful meal. I especially loved the tofu katsudon and tempura vegetables; crispy, fresh, and delicious. Super friendly service plus clean and great aesthetic for the restaurant make this a real standout.
