It seems that the ambiance and aesthetics were the only redeeming factors for this place. The food, in comparison to the neighboring Chinese restaurant, left much to be desired. I couldn’t help but wonder if I would have had a more satisfying meal at the Chinese restaurant next door.
In the end, the overall experience was a bit of a letdown, and I believe the restaurant needs to work on improving the quality of its food to match the pleasant interior and atmosphere.
They also have a separate room where they cook the food right in front of you, which looks like a fun and unique experience. I didn’t try it this time, but I definitely will on my next visit. I already have my eye on the salmon teriyaki. Highly recommend, and I’m looking forward to coming back!
My mother and I ordered hibachi. I’ll start with the positive: our waitress was very kind and attentive, which is the only reason I’m giving the service 3 stars.
The experience quickly went downhill with the hibachi cook. When a woman next to us asked if he had teriyaki chicken, he responded rudely, saying he had already told her and that she needed to listen. That set a negative tone right from the start.
The biggest issue, however, was food safety. My mother has a severe shellfish allergy—cross-contamination could send her to the hospital. We were listening carefully to everyone’s orders and did not hear anyone order shellfish. While cooking, we suddenly saw scallops. As soon as I noticed this, I immediately informed the cook about my mother’s allergy.
Despite this, he used the same spatula to handle the scallops and then used it again on my mother’s salmon, just on the other side of the grill. I stopped him and explained that cross-contamination could put her in the hospital. He walked away, returned with a cleaned spatula and a new piece of salmon, which I appreciated—but he only cooked it for a minute on both sides and when he plated it, the salmon was still raw.
To make matters worse, he told us we should have informed the waiter earlier and then angrily stated that if something happened, it would be our fault, if she ends up in the hospital, not his. While I understand that allergies should be communicated to the server (which we acknowledge), once I saw the scallops, I did speak up immediately. His reaction was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate given the seriousness of food allergies.
This situation could have been handled very differently with professionalism and care, but instead it was made uncomfortable and stressful. Food safety and attitude matter—especially in a setting like hibachi where everything is cooked together. Because of this experience, I will not be returning.
We tried the hibachi and some sushi rolls—both were fresh and satisfying. The hibachi chef was entertaining and skilled, and the food was cooked just right. The steak was tender, and the shrimp had great texture. The sushi rolls weren’t overly fancy but were fresh and nicely presented.
While it might not be the absolute best Japanese restaurant in town, it’s definitely a place I’d return to and recommend to others. Good food, fair prices, and an overall enjoyable experience.
Thank you for the experience.
Smells like old cooking oil, and A LOT of oil is used in everything. I would have appreciated some healthy options on the menu.
I ordered tempura vegetables…soaked and dripping in oil, I peeled off all the batter. Steamed veggies would have been excellent.
The side salad, being just typical, was the freshest item on the menu, so I ordered 2!
Then, the cap on the pepper shaker fell into my salad as well as half the pepper.
Overall, the food was mediocre at best.
Service was good.
Fun watching the chef cook our dinners.
But, our group enjoyed visiting and spending time together.
I wouldn’t go back.
