Food is always outstanding at Ohana grill. It is colorful, healthy, and delicious. Restaurant is BYOB and there is a small 4-5 spot parking lot outside. Inside and outside seating. Seriously, everything is outrageous and a very nice variety on the menu.

I am knocking them down a star because we had a reservation for 5:15. But I had to go somewhere right after dinner so we arrived at 5. They wouldn’t take us even though the restaurant was mostly empty with only 1 table seated. While I understand and appreciate they want to pace the kitchen this was just obnoxious.

We went 2 days in a row, Ohana Grill was that good. Make sure to call to reserve, leave a message and they’ll get back to you. Check in with the hostess inside to the left of the building, and they’ll seat you (inside or outside options). The staff from buskids to waitresses were friendly with great suggestions (thank you Kately). The food both nights were incredible, hard to pick a favorite- the Thai seafood, calamari, scallops…surprisingly we think it was the soup trio!

It pains me to provide a less than stellar rating given we have wanted to try Ohana for over a year and even made a reservation over a week ago all based on the other stellar reviews. Maybe they’re having an off day.

We arrived a couple minutes ahead of our 5:15 reservation and was greeted with a mixed welcome. A bright smile from a blonde hostess and a scowl from a brunette in a Lilly Pulitzer dress. I had asked about if parking was allowed in one of the numbered spots but was told no and then immediately asked to wait outside given the small entrance way. No problem since my husband was already looking for parking. We waited a few minutes, my husband had arrived and then was called by the blonde but immediately told a mistake was made and it wasn’t our turn to be seated. So we patiently waited at least another ten minutes. My husband went inside to inquire and was told our party wasn’t here and they couldn’t seat us per policy- he said he was the final person and he was there when the error in calling my name was made. And the policy was never stated when we were sent to wait outside.

I got the scallops risotto and it was DELICIOUS. We also enjoyed the clams in wine (a couple had sand) and the pretzels with raspberry mustard. My older son’s cheeseburger kids meal was great. My younger son’s chicken fingers were super dark, but after re ordering he ate them and was pleasantly surprised at the tenderness. Sadly, the clams in the Thai curry were super sandy for my mom and husband. The coconut rice was al dente, much to my Asian mother’s dismay. My MIL’s stir fry didn’t state it was spicy yet it was riddled with tiny spicy pepper pieces.

Our server Nikki was an angel, it was a trying meal for some of my party given the above and she was so kind and patient.

Lastly, the women’s bathroom was out of paper towels before I walked in, I notified the staff and it wasn’t replenished by the time my mother and MIL stopped in… which just added more fuel to the fire. Sigh.

Great dinner at Ohana. The ahi tuna bowl and spicy salmon bowl were both fresh and delicious! A little on the pricey side ($32 each) but overall we were happy with what we got and would return if in the area again.

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Ohana Grill. Their menu is large so there is a lot to chose from, which also means we will be going back to try everything else. While my wife didn’t enjoy her meal as much as I did, I think it was just a mater of her not liking the style of the plate. I loved everything I had, we did the wasabi calamari and spare ribs to start, both delicious and very flavorful. For dinner I had the Seared Ahi Tuna and added a stuffed lobster tail. Both really well done and cooked to perfection. Also, the mango rice was excellent. Will definitely come back for me. Love the BYOB aspect and Lavallette Liquors has a nice selection next door.

We have been here numerous times and it never disappoints. Food and service is excellent. It’s on the loud side in the dinning rooms (outside seating available). In my opinion it’s a small trade off for a great meal!

Went here last night with my husband. The food was fantastic, and so was the service. We ordered a salad with bib lettuce, walnuts, bluecheese and a delicious dressing. For dinner my husband had salmon with a maple pecan crust, sweet potato puree, and carrots and green beans; he said it was the best salmon he ever had. I despise salmon but I tried a taste and, yeah it was delicious. I had a scallop dinner with a mushroom and crab risotto the scallops were huge, done perfectly. I was concerned about the crab in the risotto but it was not overpowering at all. We had dessert, my husband had the apple bread pudding, and I had the skillet chocolate chip cookie with icecream. Everything was excellent. Currently this place is open Thursdays through Saturday, in the summer it is open all week. Not a large restaurant and you must have reservations. We got there at six pm by the time we left it was packed. If you are looking for a great place to eat, I highly recommend the Ohana Grill. Enjoy!

They had a great selection of Hawaiian inspired food. It was hard to choose what to get, everything looked so good. The ribs appetizer was especially amazing. The curry seafood is super spicy which was perfect for us. But may be too much for the average spice lover. The coconut rice was amazing. I could eat an entire plate of that alone. My waistline is grateful that they gave a moderate portion.
We loved the coconut tiramisu, but didnt love the ohana bread dessert.
The vibe was super casual. Which was relaxed.
Make a reservation in advance they are so popular they are always booked up.
The hostest and waitress were super friendly and attentive. We were seated immediately with our reservation. And the service was fast. One of the best service experiences on the island.
Parking is street parking on side streets, which is hard to find in the summer so leave a little early to account for that.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was so amazing. They had so many gluten free options and also many daily specials for appetizers and dinners. All the staff were very friendly and our server was great too. Yes there is limited parking (it’s Lavallette, small beach town wth do you expect?) And guess what calms live in the ocean (the kitchen staff cannot get out every damn piece of sand) I truly hate people that leave reviews like that!!!!
So if you’d love a great, fresh, amazing meal this is the local spot. We will be back again and we will leave another seller review!!! Don’t let people’s bitterness on wait time stear you away from this restaurant.
