This place is way too stingy with their fish, We ordered a takeout and this is all we got for almost $50 Where’s the fish! I ordered the shrimp and fish combo and 4pcs fish and chips and onion rings lol and we got those. Not going back! We know the best fish and chips in town and they have been serving for years and still the same. Some of the fish is just batter!

Great food and even better service. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. What really stood out, though, was the service, Mel, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and genuinely happy with our experience. You can tell they care about both the food and the customers. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot.

Excellent transformation by The Fish Shop! Locals know the Encinitas location and its reputation for fresh fish dishes made your way. The newest location on Coast Highway in Oceanside brings a tried and true recipe to a location that has struggled to find its identity. The decor has been updated to a much warmer vibe featuring wood accents and Oceanside vistas, along with a tasteful nod to our military tradition. The service is attentive and welcoming, and the food is on-point. Prices are as expected for fresh fish, a little pricey for deli style ordering, but the taste of everything we ordered was terrific. Shout out to the elote tacos on flour tortillas with Mahi Mahi…chef’s kiss. Check out this most recent addition to the developing Oceanside restaurant scene!

We love the Encinitas location and are so excited to have our favorite casual seafood restaurant here in Oceanside now! We just tried it and everything was fantastic.
We always love the tacos, ceviche and sandwiches. $16.50 for a hearty yellowtail sandwich with fries is a great deal! I love their pickled onions.
Someone in our party tried their fish and chips, and wow. So glad they did because this is where I’m coming to enjoy fish and chips now! A light beer batter that clung perfectly to 4 juicy, thick chunks of tender, perfectly cooked fish and a huge pile of fries. Awesome homemade tartar sauce and cocktail sauce, too.
This is going to be our go-to spot, for sure.
The only thing I’d suggest is maybe a sign telling people how the ordering process is. Several people who were here for the first time looked a little confused about the process.

We were excited to give this place a try, but were disappointed and likely won’t go back. The young lady (manager) behind the bar was less than lovely. She was rushed in taking our order, did not explain that there was an extra charge for the fish and chips, in ordering different type of fish. They were out of cod and sold us on trying a different fish without informing us of the price difference. This would not have been a problem, just did not appreciate the lack of information. She was then incredibly rude to another couple who sat down at the bar.
2 beers, 2 fish and chips + tip was $86. We don’t worry about paying a fair amount for good food and great service but left feeling disappointed. We’ll happily spend our money at locally owned restaurants rather than eat here.

Went to soft opening, such good vibes but what you really want are the fish tacos,, ceviche and lumpia!! Everyone was so friendly and courteous. Left so full and extremely satisfied, can’t wait to come back. Want to next try the sandwiches and piping hot fish stew (looked like a gumbo cioppino hybrid) those looked incredibly good coming out of the kitchen!

Well, I rarely do this, but last night, Saturday 2/28(6:30pm) after touting how great the one in Encinitas is, We took my sister&brother in law to dinner in the new shop in Oceanside. Big mistake. We waited in line for 45 minutes just to order!! Never waited longer than 10-15 min in Encinitas. The tacos were great, the fish n chips were bland( I had tacos , the others had fish ) The food came out in a timely fashion but the chips( fries) were cold. UGH!! The clam chowder was just past warm. They can and need to do better or they I’ll be gone in less than a year. We’ve seen this before.

If they could streamline the ordering process to not be so laborious for the ordering person it would help a lot. It seems they have to add a lot of extra information to the ticket which can take some time. Menu can be confusing so figure out what you want before you go and it’ll help streamline your experience. Great outdoor seating with shade and breezy vibes.
