I would say that this place is seafood lovers heaven! The seafood is fresh and very good quality. They make it all so delicious and flavorful! It always crowded and long line during the weekend but it’s totally worth it. My favorite is the razor clams, grilled escargot, and sweet & sour fried red tilapia. The hot pot is definitely perfect for the cold winter.
For the drink, I would totally recommend coconut kumquat. It’s so sweet and refreshing.
The service is fast and the staff is very knowledgeable of their menu.
Totally recommend for the seafood lovers and Definitely will be back again!!

An Absolute Must-Try! Incredible Food & Service.

We had an unforgettable lunch here with a group of 9 friends and family.
Our host, who knows the area well, brought us to this gem, and it exceeded all expectations!

The food is simply spectacular.
We ordered more than six dishes to share, and every single one was delicious.
The snail dishes are truly to die for—so flavorful and fresh.
I was even brave enough to try the legendary balut (embryo duck egg), and it was a unique and authentic experience I won’t forget!

What made the meal even better was the fantastic service.
Our server was incredibly attentive, handled our large table with ease, and paid close attention to all our requests and details.

This is the perfect kind of family restaurant for an authentic, delicious, and lively meal.
I cannot recommend Oc & Lau 2 enough to anyone visiting the area.
A must-have experience!

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!

TLDR: Save your time and money. Go to the original location. Lack of accountability***

Preface: Visiting from Virginia. Wait time – 1hr 20min. Visited original location a few months previously.

Excited to be visiting California again, my friend (her first time) and I decided to go to OC and Lau for dinner. I wanted her to experience the amazing food that I was able to previously. Unbeknownst to us, the original location is closed on Tuesdays. Naturally, we decided to visit OC and Lau 2. After waiting a horrendous time to be seated (popular, not their fault), we ordered right away as I knew which items were top tier.

* Steamed tom yum clams
* Steamed lemon grass clams
* Creamy salted egg yolk dotted escargot
* Coconut swirly escargot with basil leaves.

Immediately after receiving the lemon grass clams, I thought a mistake was made. The taste was wildly different than before. I asked my server for confirmation and that was in fact the correct dish. Thinking that I had made a mistake, I looked at my receipt from months before, and again it was in fact the correct dish. Upon tasting the egg yolk escargot and coconut escargot I was immediately dissatisfied. The flavor was subpar from the original location. The only saving grace was the tom yum clams.

*** I then asked a staff member regarding this and was informed that a multitude of customers had the same complaint. The reasoning was that the chefs were different.

I was appalled and irritated by this response. Especially, due to the price point and popularity of this restaurant you would expect some quality control and accountability but they were nowhere to be found. We spent almost $100 after tip for 4 items and 2 beers.

To travel 2,600 miles across the country, excited to treat myself to a nice meal, and then met with a subpar experience was not on my end of 2025 agenda. Especially since I’ve had the real deal.

Incredibly sad to leave this review as I honestly really love this place. However, I do believe that there should be transparency for all those coming to try this 2nd location.

First time I’ve been to this place I was recommended to come here and they did not disappoint. I asked my friend what should I get? He said the real question is how many things can do you want to get he says everything was amazing and everything was amazing coconut snails perfect Scallops, perfect crab, shrimp, fried rice, perfect only thing and I mean only thing that I did not and was mad about or not mad disappointed that they were not in season with the coconut shrimp service was perfect. Food comes out fast and I mean fast like if it was almost microwaved, but it’s notI recommend this to anybody and everybody.

I have nothing bad to say about this place at all. Expect wait time but hey the food is fantastic, that’s why people are trying to get in too.
Tips: You can go on a wait list on Yelp but the Staff there told me if you’re not eating Hot Pot, you can tell them and they should have a table right away.
I ordered the items below
Salted egg escargots
Coconut snails
Garlic fatty snails
Sashimi scallops
Deep fried smelt fishes

Everything is amazing. Fast service. Attentive servers.

We drive 2 hrs just to eat here!!! The line to get in is huge for dinner!! (Its that good) so make sure you get on the wait list online so you can keep track of what # you are. It’s located in a small shopping area so you can pick up pastries while you wait. The atmosphere is gorgeous inside. Staff is pleasant and helpful in describing what a dish is if you’re not sure. The food arrives to the table so fast. We order escargot, frog legs, the mango salad is my favorite. The lobster noodles are amazing. They also have a large menu of drinks. Teas, matcha, exotic fruit mix drinks and Thai tea.

4.6/5 ### A Tropical Feast at OC Lau2: Where Thai Flavors Explode in Orange County!

Oh, OC Lau2 in Orange County – you’ve just rocketed to the top of my must-eat list! Tucked away in the heart of this sunny SoCal paradise, this gem delivers a Thai seafood extravaganza that’s equal parts indulgent and unforgettable. From the moment I stepped in, the vibrant aromas of lemongrass, coconut, and ocean-fresh bounty had me salivating like a kid in a candy store. If you’re craving an escape to Saigon without leaving the OC, this is your ticket – and trust me, you’ll be booking your next reservation before the bill even hits the table.

Let’s start with the **curry goat**, because holy spice heaven, what a revelation! Tender chunks of goat simmered in a velvety red curry that’s rich with galangal, kaffir lime, and just the right kick of heat – not overpowering, but enough to wake up every taste bud. The meat melts in your mouth, absorbing flavors that linger like a warm hug from your favorite auntie. Paired with fluffy jasmine rice, it’s comfort food elevated to gourmet status. I could eat this every day and never tire.

Then, the **king scallops** – oversized, seared to golden perfection with a buttery garlic sauce that screams luxury. These bad boys are plump, sweet, and practically burst with the sea’s essence, drizzled in a chili-lime reduction that adds a zesty pop. Each bite is a textural dream: crispy edges giving way to silky centers. If scallops could win Oscars, these would sweep the category.

Don’t even get me started on the **crab glass noodles** – a tangle of translucent mung bean threads tossed with generous lumps of fresh Dungeness crab, shiitake mushrooms, and a whisper of oyster sauce for that umami bomb. It’s light yet satisfying, with the crab’s delicate sweetness shining through every forkful. Subtle, elegant, and utterly addictive – I scraped the plate clean and eyed my neighbor’s uneaten portion with mock envy.

But wait, there’s more! The **pineapple fried rice** is a showstopper in its own right – carved from a whole pineapple, golden grains studded with shrimp, cashews, and raisins, all kissed by turmeric and curry powder. It’s sweet-savory magic, the kind that makes you forget carbs are a thing to count.

And the seafood parade? OC Lau2’s **different types of clams** – from littlenecks to Manila – arrive steamed in a fragrant tom yum broth, briny and bursting with ginger and basil. The **escargots**, Thai-style in a spicy coconut curry, transform the humble snail into a garlicky, herb-infused delight that’s worlds away from French bistro fare. Fresh **oysters** on the half-shell, shucked tableside with mignonette and ponzu twists, are as pristine as they come – cool, creamy, and straight from Poseidon’s pantry. Finally, the **lobsters** – whole, grilled or stir-fried in black pepper sauce – are a decadent finale, their sweet tail meat clawing its way into your heart (and stomach).

Service? Warm and attentive, with staff who know their menu like old friends. Ambiance? Cozy yet lively, with tiki torch vibes that scream al fresco OC evenings. Prices are fair for this level of freshness – we’re talking value that punches way above its weight.

In a sea of chain spots, OC Lau2 is the real deal: bold, authentic Thai fusion that honors tradition while innovating for the modern palate. I’ve dined at countless spots from LA to Irvine, but this one? It’s the crown jewel. Run, don’t walk – your taste buds will thank you. Five stars aren’t enough; I’d give it ten if I could. Can’t wait for round two!
