Food was great, place was great and the staff and owner was awesome.
This time I couldn’t eat all my crab I was full!
I’m giving the place 4/5 for the atmosphere bc some of the decor was pretty goofy but seemed in good condition. I had the calamari, spicy crab soup and the seafood Sautee. Everything was delicious. My partner had the steak and coconut shrimp. Unforch, the steak needed salt and was a touch overdone, hence the 4/5 for the food. I would come back again
I go to a lot of restaurants in the greater Detroit area. Over 200 in just the last year! This place is a classic. I like the warm and fuzzy and nautical feeling of the restaurant. Perhaps because I am a boater and enjoy good seafood.
The bar is top notch and clean and the owner Dan is a genuinely nice, has a great sense of humor and is passionate about the dishes he serves. He is going on 31 years in business and has a real loyal following. I will be one of them. The staff is very friendly too. If you had not tried this place, then I would highly recommend you do. And I know you will be back!
I had recently went back and tasted more of the dishes and added new ones. This place ought to be featured on Triple D!
I highly recommend O’Brien’s Crabhouse. This place is a gem!
The food was mediocre at best. Presentation wasn’t the greatest, and flavor lacked heavily we definitely had to season our own food because the kitchen obviously didn’t. The best thing was the shrimp cocktail and that’s saying a lot being that it’s a seafood restaurant. The desert was nothing special but it was up there with being the best thing we had here. Drinks are bottled and they bring you a glass of ice to accompany it.
Overall, I don’t see us returning to this establishment. Our waitress is the only reason they got ANY stars. She was a delight. Our bill was almost $200 and based on what we received, it’s a NO for me.
Everyone in our party of 5 was blown away by how good the food is. The clam chowder was unbelievable. I can’t wait for them to open for lunch to get some chowder and bread. Stone crab was delicious, as were the scallops, shrimp, etc…. Nothing pretentious here, just fantastically good food and a server that knew just how to be there when needed, but not overbearing. I highly recommend for their seafood and can’t wait to come back.
