OBC Kitchen is an absolute 10/10 recommendation for brunch in Lexington, KY! Everything about our experience was truly exceptional, making it a place we’ll be rushing back to.
A huge shout-out to our server, Jacob S, who provided great service and made our visit even better.
We were impressed by the savory main dishes. The Chicken and Biscuits were perfectly executed—tender chicken atop fluffy, buttery biscuits that were pure comfort food. Likewise, the Turkey Avocado Everything Bagel was fresh, flavorful, and hearty enough to kickstart the day.
The beverage menu was equally stellar. My girlfriend loved her refreshing Mimosa, but the star of the show was my cocktail: the Smoke and a Pancake. This drink was truly phenomenal. It wasn’t just a delight to taste, but the incredible smoky, rich aroma elevated the entire experience into a multi-sensory treat.
If you’re looking for high-quality food, great cocktails, and an amazing atmosphere, look no further than OBC Kitchen.

First thing first, our server Shelby was AMAZING! She was attentive, knew her bourbon and the food, patience and engaging!

Over 800 bourbon selections, Star Wars themed cocktails, top shelf bourbon (we had the Willet 6yr Lion bourbon, was top notch, $20/oz), and food was excellent in both tastes and presentations.
Highly recommend this place if you visit Lexington…especially the Bacon in the Glass.

We shared one appetizer, two meals and 3 sides between the 4 of us. We were full and still had leftover. With taxes and tips and all of the food, was about $50/person. Reasonable for fine dining.
Appetizer- Bacon In The Glass
Entrees – Shrimp Gnocchi and Parmesan Chicken Caprese
Sides – Crispy Fingerling Potatoes, Wild Mushrooms Risotto, and Truffle Mac n Cheese

Cocktails – Balance To The Force, Jedi Mind Trick, and Jar Jar’s Jam Session. Funniest and the coolest drink was “Even The Youngling” lol

I had a fantastic time at OBC Kitchen. The halibut was pure perfection — flaky, flavorful, and resting on a heavenly crab hash with a sauce that tasted like silky corn pudding. The beet salad was phenomenal — vibrant, balanced, and beautifully plated.

Don’t even get me started on the bread… warm, fluffy, and absolutely to die for! We also shared fingerling potatoes, and my friend loved their crinkle-cut fries and salad. The mocktails were fresh, creative, and full of flavor.

From start to finish, everything was executed flawlessly. The chef here is a true visionary. I can’t wait to go back — next time, I’m saving room for dessert!

Excellent place. Atmosphere, service and the food. The atmosphere is a more of a fancier setting and would be perfect for a date as its lighting is dimmer which makes it more engaging overall.

Next is the service. Trevor was the guy who waited on me and his service was top notch and he was very freindly, attentive and helpful when I was navigating through the tablet menu. Really great guy overall.

Lastly the food. This place is more expensive so keep that in mind, but the food was all excellent and perfectly prepared, cooked and even in presentation. I had the Wagyu Meatballs as an appetizer, a Whiskey Sour drink, the Steak and Cake (petite) Entrée, an additional side of the wild mushroom risotto and the Churro Cheesecake to go which I took a bite when I got back in my hotel room and it was delicious.

Everything was great. I’ll definitely come back here when I’m in the area

The food was delicious. I highly recommend the bacon with peanut butter sauce! Fantastic, trust me. The service was too notch. The cocktails were delicious as was dinner. I would have loved to try it all. I didn’t get a photo of the bacon, bit did remember to snap one of the pork belly tacos.

A gastro pub with solid interior wooden decor, intimate lounge-like lighting, a fairly Bourbon-knowledgeable staff, innovative tablet drink/cocktail menu, and exorbitant selection of over 600 whiskeys/Bourbons/liquors.

Today I tried the macaroni & cheese ($11), followed by the wonderful Cola-braised short ribs ($29, with cheese grits, wilted greens, applewood smoked bacon, cider-honey vinaigrette, natural jus). Tenderness exuded through the meat, with ample flavor and fat. The salad greens were amazingly filling, tasty.

Pairing with the meal was a neat Buzzard’s Roost 5-yr toasted Bourbon ($22 for 2 ounces). Very impressed by the nose, mouthfeel on that.

Would gladly recommend the experience to any visitor of Lexington!

The one complaint I have is the bacon texture was hard beef jurky and horrible to try and eat. But dang, the flavor was extraordinary

Fat Man Reviews
On a Saturday afternoon after a trip to Sam’s Club, the Fat Man and his wife headed down Tates Creek Road to OBC Kitchen (Old Bourbon County Kitchen) for an early dinner. OBC is a stylish restaurant offering updated Southern fare, craft beer & an extensive bourbon list.

We started with the Bacon in a Glass appetizer. The Bacon was thick-cut and cooked to a salty, crunchy, chewy, fatty texture, and the brown sugar amplified the flavor. The peanut butter sauce adds a creaminess to cut through the saltiness, while not adding extra sweetness.

We also sampled the Fried Green Tomatoes. The tomatoes were thick-cut, and the breading was cooked perfectly with a great crunch. The bacon jam offered both a sweet and a heat to the dish, which cut through the herb cheese. The heat lingers and builds the flavor while the cheese gives the dish a creamy, cooling, and flavorful component. The addition of the candied Bacon adds even more flavor.

We split the Cola-Braised Short Ribs and added the roasted glazed Brussels sprouts. The grits had a grainy texture, were not as cheesy as I expected, and lacked seasoning. The greens were crunchy and had a nice apple cider vinegar taste, but they were more like a salad than I expected. I thought they would be southern-style greens. The short rib was dry and lacked seasoning, although the slaw gave it texture and a crunch. The Brussels sprouts were bitter and overcooked while flirting with a burnt flavor. Although not pictured, they served salt rolls to start the meal, and they were excellent.

OBC serves a menu with starters, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts that they source from many local farms. They have a full menu, seasonally rotating drink menus, and an extensive bourbon selection. The Fat Man says that OBC Kitchen is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

Went to finally check out OBC during Lexington Restaurant Week and it did not disappoint!
We split all of the courses in order to both enjoy a lot of flavor options.
Started with Sweet Corn Dip and Tortilla chips along with the Barbecue Shrimp both being a perfect start to our main course and of course a couple of Dinner rolls warm with possibly Parmesan cheese on them and these were also served while we were waiting for our meals. Then we moved into the Manhattan Steak and Fingerling Potatoes along with Buttermilk Biscuits with Fried chicken and Hot Honey making it into a sandwich. Both of these were also exceptional. Our ending was Cinnamon Donuts and a couple of dipping options (caramel and raspberry sauce) and London Fog Pie A la Mode.
Overall this was a fantastic meal!

My large, extended family and I had dinner at OBC recently around 4pm on a Friday. The service was exceptional; from beginning to end our servers were attentive and cool as a cucumber handling around 15 people at once. Everything was exactly as ordered, with no mistakes. The cocktails were fantastic, and I especially loved the G&T with rosemary. For appetizers we had the Brussels sprouts and French onion arancini; both were perfectly balanced in flavors and textures. I had the fettuccine with Italian sausage and mushrooms in a sage butter sauce. Nothing disappointed and I can’t wait to see future menus! Highly recommend for visitors to Lexington, date night, or drinks with friends!
