Interesting dinner. Located about 20 minutes from downtown Indy in a strip center, so somewhat off the beaten path. Large interior, but seems a bit dated.
Menu is quite extensive, with lots of interesting choices. The plates lend themselves to sharing, so our party got to taste a fair number of things. The prime rib dumplings, pork belly skewers and halibut stood out for both flavor and culinary execution.
One of the distinguishing marks of most dishes is the sheer number of ingredients in each – dollops of this, a drizzle of that, a shaved or crumbled something. There’s a lot going on to be sure, and I’m not necessarily sure that’s always a good thing.
Menu prices are fair. Decent wine list (especially the value priced, well aged ‘Features’) but one of the two bottles and the glass of dessert wine we ordered turned out to be out of stock. Restaurant might consider a tablet to handle the selections so they can be kept up to date?
Server was friendly and offered good recommendations.
Would return…

My fiance and I ate here for Valentine’s Day, incredible experience!!! The service was excellent, everyone was very welcoming. We had some nice people eating next to us recommending the best dishes as they were regulars. Our food oh my gosh it was absolutely delicious and beautiful!!! The atmosphere was cute and fun too! Highly recommend, great for a date night!

The whole experience was interesting. For starters, there is zero vibe to this restaurant, especially for the price point. I have a very big appreciation for great food; however, half of dining out is about the ambience and experience. We spent $155 on 3 drinks, 2 appetizers, a $3 corn dog that was quoted to be a big Bobby Flay competition winner, and 1 entree. Don’t be fooled by images of the food – while the presentation of each dish was great, there was nothing that we had that left us wanting more. You should never spend $100+ at a restaurant and leave hungry or unsatisfied – sadly we were both.

One of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had! I wasn’t sure what to expect when we drove up, it’s quite unassuming from the outside, but that’s where it ends. Every dish is flavorful, well seasoned, expertly crafted! The creme brulee was one of my favorites ever! The service was excellent as well. Nate took very good care of us. We will definitely be back!

We came in from out of state for family and were excited to experience Oakley’s based upon the website and reviews; we were sorely disappointed.
For starters the other couple tried the Shrimp Corn Dog and they thought it was bland. We had the Nashville Deviled Eggs and thought there was nothing special and they didn’t live up to our expectations. We also shared the Beet Salad and the flavors were bland in it as well.
For our main courses I had the Trout which was described as having lemongrass and Thai flavors. First, this should have been paired with the Salmon not the Trout, and unfortunately the flavors just were not there. My husband had the Stanley’s Meatloaf and again, bland flavor and it appeared to have been re-warmed. He also did not care for the Chili Jam at all. The other couple each had the Lamb which was a nightly special and they too did not find the flavors to be present.
For dessert we shared the Warm Toffee Pudding and all I could taste was burnt sugar, the other couple shared a Strawberry Rhubarb parfait and it was just okay.
Overall we were very disappointed. This was touted as a nicer more expensive restaurant with a chef touted for his culinary skill and we just did not find that at all in any of the dishes.
The staff was pleasant, the atmosphere was casual, and the presentation was beautiful but with very small portion sizes. Based upon the dishes we tasted, we would not recommend Oakley’s Bistro.

We just held our annual company Calico Christmas party at Oakleys Bistro for 21 people. They did a fabulous job. Chris worked with me on the menu planning and special Christmas coctails for our group. She was so gracious. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The dinner was absolutely exceptional, the layers of flavor in every dish were so delicious. Kudos to chef Oakley and his entire staff for our best Christmas dinner!!!
In addition to loving fabric at Calico, we are all foodies and we recommend you dont miss the pleasure of dining at Oakley’s Bistro.

At first glance, I was apprehensive about the menu. All of the quotation marks around things that bore no resemblance to the dish they were describing (i.e. lemon curd meringue “creme brulee”) felt pretentious and overwrought. I’m a foodie, but even I kinda had to roll my eyes a bit. I gotta say, though, the food banished any doubts I had that it would live up to its own hype. Soup and sauces are where it’s at for me. If you can make an incredible soup, then I’m in love. It’s harder than most people think. The butternut squash soup had wonderful depth and complexity, and was original – no curry or pumpkin seeds, thank god. The red sauce on the fettuccini was bright, acidic, and had great balance. The chicken artichoke meatballs had no business being that good. I tried a bite of my friend’s duck and it was also wonderful. So despite the menu descriptions coming off fussy, the food is solidly great.

First timer. Been wanting to eat here for awhile now and finally tried it for lunch today. My wife and I were completely underwhelmed. Their “house made” Manhattan tasted like straight vermouth. Didn’t taste any whiskey. The meatloaf was one of the worst I’ve ever had. It was dense and rubbery. Didn’t taste fresh at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made a day or two ahead and then reheated. It tasted just like leftovers taste. The wild boar sloppy Joe sounded much better than it tasted. I wanted to like everything so bad because the menu is truly unique. And they do a great job with presentation. But I can’t say I’ll ever be back. Literally nothing we had met expectations.

This is a late review, as I forgot to do one when we dined here several months ago. Some item menus may have changed as it’s a seasonal-ingredient kibda restaurant. Despite the restaurant seating being a little tight, it actually felt cozy after a few minutes of sitting down. Maybe it’s also because that reminded me of my trip to Quebec City; where cozy, small-spaced restaurants are plenty. The food is fantastic! It’s a place you don’t just eat with your mouth, but with your eyes. Artistic, lovely plating, and delectable flavors. Our service was a little slow, but our server was informative and kind. We did dine during a busy time, and we’re gracious they got us in pretty quickly. Everything was great, and they even gave us an extra dessert. It’s definitely another place added to our list of eats.

A new favorite! It seems like they really take pride in their food, and the menu options were really great. The presentation was really valued! We got a recommendation from a friend and are so glad we did. Oakleys bistro will definitely be on our special occasion meal rotation.
