Best bar in Madison, best burger in Madison, best burger I’ve ever had. This is my absolute favorite place to go. The atmosphere and culture is awesome. Humble and unassuming, just great food at an unbeatable price. This is Madison’s hidden gem. My only critique is a slightly limited tap selection (5 beers on tap, but lots more available in bottles/cans). Great fish fry on Wednesdays and Fridays, and great prime rib on Saturdays.

Onion rings were fantastic, the cheese curds and (burned) shrimp were good. Other than that, the food was not great. Sandwiches were bland and boring but serving sizes were generous. To be fair, we didn’t have a burger that people are always praising, but the menu has way more on it than a burger. Service after taking our order was terrible and it wasn’t even that busy. I’m not planning to go back.

You forget that you’re literally feet from one of the busiest streets in Madison here. The ambience is small, up north supper club, and the staff are right out of central casting in a good way. The staff all worked their collective tails off, cooking, taking orders, and barkeeping while still managing to be funny, efficient, and attentive.

It’s almost always packed for a reason. Quaint spot with that rustic/north woods vibe. Friendly bartenders, and quick service. Perch were good, and the fries and onion rings were great. Would recommend especially if you can get their early to get seating.
