I saw lots of review with this restaurant, so we decided to pay a visit. The place is really nice and everyone treated us so kindly. Me and my husband ordered the special for the day ( pork chop) the mashed potatoes and the cornbread and veggies taste amazing, but the pork chop for me is a little oily. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good but not how I expected it. But other than that, we still have a good time. It’s always good to experience old restaurant…started its operation since 1912 and the second oldest restaurant in Texas, it’s something to be proud off. Overall, I will still come back to this place

Great breakfast. Country fried steak was hearty, fried well, and great with the gravy. The east over eggs were also great. My favorite was the has browns. I was delighted they mixed in sauteed onions. Yummy!!!

Cowboy town rules.

Service and atmosphere:
This restaurant was established 104 years ago! It’s the iconic spot in the most American cowboy town in the Great State of Texas. This restaurant is also famous for John Wayne memorabilia.
The service was fast and very friendly.

Food and drinks:
Good selection of comfort foods with a touch of good old home cooking.
I opted for steak that was cut in the restaurant. I ordered it medium rare but it was more on medium side. It was very tender and very well seasoned so I enjoyed it the way I had it served.
Chicken Fried Chicken dish was equally good. Homely cooking with good flavours.

Pricing:
$/$$ – definitely worth it and I recommend you try this place when you are in town.

Fresh, tasty homemade food! Great salad bar. The apple pie was out of this world – be sure to order when they have it. And our server, Jessica, was delightful. I look forward to our next visit.

We live in Tennessee and come each year to San Antonio for the rodeo. The OST is always on the agenda when visiting. Best breakfast in Texas. Try the Migas!

This place was AMAZING! I had the chicken fried steak, beef veggie soup, baked potato, and a biscuit. My mother had the patties melt with onion rings, and I finished it off my meal with blueberry buttermilk pie. CFS was a 10/10! Best I’ve ever had! Super crunchy crust and even though I order a small i have half of everything to take home for lunch tomorrow.
Pattie melt was fabulous with just thr perfect amount of grilled onions on a toasted Rye bread! Onion rings were to die for! Crunchy and flavorful! Not over cooked and not burnt. They were perfect. I’d definitely recommend this place. Soup was not salty as I expected it to be. You can tell it was homemade and the pie is downright mouthwatering. Ive never had blueberry buttermilk pie but I love blueberries and I love buttermilk. So, this pie is a perfect combo for me. Excellent job OST!

Ordered at the restaurant, and they deluded next door to the Ice Hause. E ordered the fish combo and tornado fries. Neither were remarkable. The fish was slightly undercooked. Seasoning was too soft for my palette. The service and friendliness of the staff was a step in the right direction. I will say the restaurant was full of patrons, so at least the locals find the meals to their liking. The iceHause next door was intimate. Great setting for a date. We watched Mister Bob Stewart perform live and enjoyed every minute.

We are from California and traveling. We have eaten in a lot of places. This has to be the best breakfast I have had ever. And it even tasted homemade. Other restaurants say home cooked, homemade etc. but this one literally tasted homemade. The biscuits were to die for, the gravy was fantastic, the pork chop was wonderful. I can’t say enough for this place
