If you blink, you may pass this luscious restaurant up!! It is a complete vibe inside and out! Rooftop dining was closed when we went, but we look forward to coming back and sitting up there. Servers are all friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The menu has plenty of options and choices. We tried a lot of rolls. Our favorite was the fresh yellowtail. Mouthwatering!!! Eel roll was amazing. Snow crab, blue crab, even tried the short rib! Small dishes to share and make your mouth go boom!! The presentation is top notch! The drinks we tried were different and all went down smoothly.

We loved this place!!!! Came here on a whim and got seated at the bar right away at 7pm on a Wednesday. Our server, Zach, was so good to let us know that we had 3 minutes to order from the HH menu.

Our four rolls all tasted really delicious, though we’d probably save the harvest roll for sweet green if you’re a sushi connoisseur, we’d say the rice was a tad undercooked, but we still loved all the flavors.

Non-alcoholic drinks were definitely on the sweet side, but again, flavors were fantastic.

Get the sata andagi for dessert. Pillowy-soft and melt in your mouth and the dipping sauce is amazing! 100/10

if you looking for a cozy Japanese place to dine, this is it. Me and my friend got karaage chicken, tuna nigiri and a nigiri topped with sashimi and uni and gold decoration. The food was extraordinary and was yum ( speaking from someone who went to a lot of Japanese places like me ) and I got the lychee drink and it was unexpectedly good.
The kitchen counter was very hygienic as well. Our server was super friendly and chill. Then a guy from the counter gave us a free dish that has a combination of crispy rice and kimchi on it and it was so good.
Overall highly recommended !

Great sushi-centric restaurant in Union Market / NoMa area of Washington DC. The fish is fresh and tasty and the menu has enough variety for non sushi or fish lovers. The yellowtail carpaccio is a fave and the chicken yakitori is a great hot dish. I enjoy sitting at the bar to eat. There is a Happy hour from 5-7pm which is a great value and a great time to try different items on the menu. You can’t go wrong.

Everything from the decor and playlist to the food was exceptional. The sushi was perfect! (Restaurant rice in the US is always hit or miss, but the chef at O-ku nailed it.) Menu items are creative but not pretentious, and most importantly everything just tastes amazing. O-ku DC is a new fave – we will definitely be coming back frequently!!

I went here late on a Tuesday when i was craving sushi and it did not disappoint. I got the yellowtail and sashimi and another roll that was like a crunchy tempura. I can’t remember the name I think it has fried salmon anywho it was DELICIOUS! It may have been the firecracker roll. Theyre drinks are pretty good too. Would recommend coming later in the evening when parking is better to grab

I had the pleasure of eating at O-ku this week. I was able to sit at the sushi chef table and get recommendations from the staff. They have a great happy hour Monday-Thursday 5-7. I ordered the SALMON USUZUKURI, rock shrimp ( HH) , snow king (HH) , and DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOTATE!.

All were delicious, but I definitely recommend the SALMON USUZUKURI. This was graciously recommended by one of the sushi chef trainers from Raleigh, North Carolina and it was a hit! Tender salmon with pops of the crunchy black salt -Amazing! I can see why it’s so popular.

The restaurant had great service and ambience as well. Thank you for a lovely experience O-KU. I will be back

O-Ku was overall great! The seared tuna app and scallop temaki hand roll were amazing. My husband ordered the yakisoba noodles which I think was the star of the evening! The pork belly in the noodles was truly so absolutely delicious.

The two rolls were good (Mt Fuji and I can’t remember the other one), but they felt underwhelming for the price point. One was essentially a California roll with a bit of seared salmon on top for $20, just felt like a mismatch. I wish I had done the chefs nigiri or more hand rolls. The only other issue was the sushi came out like 15 minutes before my husbands food so timing wise, it was a little awkward – you don’t want to be eating while someone is waiting or be completely finished before the other person gets the food. It’s not a huge deal, I just waited, but most places are able to time when to send all the food out at once.

I was really looking forward to trying O-Ku in Union Market, but the experience fell short. The sushi rice was extremely hard and crunchy, almost like it had been sitting in the refrigerator overnight, which completely threw off the texture and flavor of the rolls. For a place with O-Ku’s reputation and price point, I expected much fresher, properly prepared rice. Hoping this was just an off night, but it definitely impacted the overall meal.

Two of my friends and I dined here. This is one of those restaurants that recommends that each person get a few items since the plates are smaller. Some menu items we tried were the Charred Broccolini, the Mt. Fuji roll, the O-Ku Spider Roll, the Firecracker Roll, and the Miso Soup (there were a couple of other things my friends got, but I can’t remember what they were called). Everything was delicious. My favorite was the Firecracker Roll. Our total for three people was $183, which was $61 per person. The service was good as well.
