10/10 my Husband and I recommend
Just opening the door you get smacked with a mouth watering smell where it immediately makes your tummy rumble. The owners are very welcoming, sweet people! They have special seasonal flavors along with their different variety of items AND THEIR YUMMY HAND MADE STICKY MOCHI CRUNCH!! (Next time we will be buying more than one bag as the one we got was so finger-licking good it only made it about 1/3rd of the way home.)
My Husband was born and raised in Hawaii and whenever he feels the heavy homesick, this always our #1 go-to spot! Most definitely worth the 1hour drive! He says they are so perfectly deliciously made with love like back home, that they remind him of when he was a kid!! Which says a lot as my Husband is very picky when it comes to anything Hawaiian based. We always get the boxes of different filled Malasadas as well as the original (no filling), in hopes some of them will make it home to enjoy but they’re so palatable only a few remain when we walk through our front door..
Big Thank You for bringing a touch of back home to the main land for everyone else and the home sicks to come by!! You guys are amazing!
I came across O and Ko from Google map and got so excited I felt like a kid again! I was counting the days where I would have it stuffed in my mouth and roll my eyes to the back of my head excitement…. Well, that have to say, I am disappointed. My first bite, I knew it was just a doughnut. My heart sank and I got homesick. If you’ve ever been to Hawaii and saw Leonard’s malasadas truck, the first thing you’ll notice is the line that forms in any good given days. You know that awesome goodness that just sends you in ecstasy. When you know, you know.
The butter mochi that O and Ko have is delicious! I will definitely come back for that one and I’m willing to try everything else that they have. Just not the malasadas.
So I checked out their website which instantly made me flash back to home so I tried an online order of mini Malasadas, and picked them up in a couple of days. Soon as I walked in the door, the smell was amazingly wonderful of home baked goods, I was warmly greeted by Chris, who had my order packed and waiting for me. Cindy (Keahi) was busily behind the counter preparing something probably yummy. Chris was very friendly, and even briefly talked story with me (Mahalo Chris).
I tried one (plain) soon as I got to my truck, I was not disappointed! There were plain, chocolate cream, haupia, and cream filled ones, all ” broke da mouth” (incredibly delicious). My Ohana loves them too!
I highly recommend Ō and Kō bakery if you love Malasadas, as good or betta than even Leonard’s! (If you know Malasadas, you know what I’m talking about.)
Mahalo nui Chris, and Cindy, you made me homesick in a good way! 5 stars is not enough! I will definitely be back.
Their malasadas are simply the best—each filled flavor was more delightful than the last. I couldn’t help but try all the varieties they had on display. The s’more brownie I got was a gooey, chocolatey dream, the limited kimchi-infused pastry I tried was a unique and delicious surprise that perfectly blended savory with the pickled kimchi. I also tried the butter mochi, which was delicious and tasted like it had bananas in it—a delightful twist that added to its richness and softness.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as the owner was very accommodating in explaining each of the items they had and letting me try samples of their packaged goods. You can feel the love and cultural pride in every bite.
If you’re craving authentic Hawaiian and Pacific Northwest-inspired treats, this is the place to go. Highly recommend stopping by to experience these amazing baked goods!
