Came here on a friend’s recommendation and absolutely loved it. Everything was incredibly fresh and you can truly taste the quality in every bite.
The wine was excellent and paired perfectly with our meal. Service was friendly and attentive.
I’m only visiting Victoria for a few days, and this was such a highlight. Easily one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in Canada — we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town! 🙂

I visited Nubo today for a quick lunch and had a really enjoyable experience. They offer a great variety of lunch tenshoku sets, each with different main options, so there’s plenty to choose from. I went with the aburi sushi as my main, and it was incredibly delicious. The sushi was flavourful and well prepared, and every side dish in the set tasted fresh and thoughtfully made.
The service was also very good! Friendly, attentive, and efficient, even during a busy period. That said, lunch hour can get a bit crowded, so I’d recommend going a little earlier if you want a more relaxed experience.
Overall, a solid spot for a high quality Japanese lunch, and I’d definitely come back.

Absolutely loved our experience at Nubo Japanese Tapas! The food was amazing — every dish made with incredibly fresh ingredients that practically melted in your mouth. The presentation was clean, neat, and beautiful. The Sautéed Broccolini was out of this world — a total must-try! The torched rolls were another highlight — fun, impressive, and so tasty. Even my kids, who usually don’t touch raw fish, enjoyed it here! The place isn’t big, but it’s lovely, cute, very clean, and the service was great. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

The food was just so much better than I’ve come to expect for these prices. My partner ordered wild sockeye sashimi and a tuna roll and he said it’s the best on Vancouver Island. High praise from my favorite sushi nerd! I had a tiny sandwich (can’t remember if pork or chicken as this review is a bit delayed) and tempura and it was too notch. All the fresh texture and great flavours. I was utterly shocked it was so quit in there.

Chef’s choice of sashimi was delicious! Tomahawk roll was rich and yummy. Our server was very kind and patient. The Japanese whiskey was not smooth though.

Nubo is our favourite sushi bar. They have the freshest sashimi, and great customer service. We’ve been enjoying Nubo for years, and always bring our out of town guests here. Highly recommend.
