This place was super cute and i really wanted to love it. Unfortunately the good experience ended at the decor. There were only 5 people in the place when we arrived and it took over an hour for us to get our food. We didn’t even get bread for 45 minutes. I had the beef goulash and it was tasteless and unseasoned. The potato pancake was a rubber disc that soaked up so much oil it wouldn’t even break apart when prodded with my fork. My fiance had the steak sandwich that was also unseasoned and tasted like the meat was about to turn. When the bartender asked about our meal we told him it was terrible and he said ok and handed us the check. Definitely a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons.

I just had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a cozy “tavern-like” interior, very friendly service and the food was incredible. Will definitely be going back.

It isn’t fancy but they do have Excellent food and a relatively large menu.
Most of the main courses are under $20 but the high end specialties are up to $25. So it’s a good deal in today’s environment.
The fillet was a nice size and perfectly cooked.
The cod came with 6 shrimp.
The goulash was excellent.
Desert was good. Try the chocolate brownie or the carrot cake.
The one downside: service was – how can I say this – leisurely. Don’t go if you are in a rush.

I’ve been coming here for years. They have great specials, amazing food and a very good special bar menu. The owner and workers are great people! Wednesdays are buy one burger get one half off, and Thursday is prime rib. Also they have other specials on a board for the full week.

Ok so i have been living in Mahopac for over 10yrs . I always wanted to try Northwood inn… so i did today. I had the Blackened porkchops. And my wife had the polish platter. Porkchops were good . My wife wasn’t Crazy for the stuff cabbage, but i guess its a hit or miss.

Nice place with good food, giving 4 stars only because the service was a tad slow, it seemed a bit understaffed when we were there and it seemed to take longer for the food to arrive but, overall, we enjoyed the outdoor dining and the food and the experience were good. We will very likely be back.

Really great food! Nice blend of food and culture. They is a bartender though who is really miserable. She really seems to be bothered by anyone asking for something. Also will just sit in her phone and not pay attention to customers. Overall still would go, but I try to avoid when she is there

My daughter and her husband took me to Northwood Inn for an Early Mother’s Day luncheon. I must say that I can not say enough about how good an experience it was. The atmosphere was lovely, and our waitress was such a very nice and friendly person. As for the food, we were absolutely impressed, from the way the different dishes were displayed to the absolutely GREAT way the food tasted!!! All of our three different meals and several appetizers were wonderful. We ended our meals with coffee ☕️ and dessert. We had the flavored cheesecake and the chocolate peanut butter pie. Oh my, they tasted delicious . I am only sorry that I didn’t take photos of our food, but I can say that from the presentation to the wonderful taste, we were not disappointed!! I took some cards home to give to my friends to tell them about this wonderful restaurant . Thank you, Northwood Inn, for helping to make this Mother’s Day outing a wonderful experience ❤️!!
