North Village Chinese Restaurant – 1 Stars

After living in Dayton my entire life, I finally decided to give North Village Chinese Restaurant a try, especially after noticing a few customers coming in for takeout. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I had high hopes based on the foot traffic, but the food did not live up to my expectations.

To start with, the hot and sour soup was a letdown. It had a globby texture and lacked any real flavor, which was surprising. I had never tried it before, so maybe this is how it is typically served, but I found it to be unappetizing and not even hot. On a brighter note, the wonton soup was quite good—definitely the highlight of my partners meal.

The crab rangoon was average; it was okay but nothing that stood out. The fried rice was decent, but it really needed more seasoning or flavor to elevate it. I found the noodles to be sticky and bland, which was disappointing. The Mala G. Beans Chicken was particularly unappetizing and lacked any definitive taste, while the Moo Goo Gai Pan also fell flat in terms of flavor.

Overall, I was hoping for a better experience at North Village. While I did enjoy the wonton soup, the rest of the meal simply did not impress. I may return to give it another shot, but my first visit left much to be desired.

The food was incredible. I had the pork in garlic sauce meal with hot and sour soup. My friend had the sweet and sour chicken meal with wanton soup. He was also impressed with his meal. The staff was very friendly but busy on the phone taking orders. This just shows me that they are very liked in the area. All in all a very good experience. I will be back.

Ordered over $60 dollars worth of food through door dash! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I WAS VERY SURPISED! The food and service is usual, ok! My girlfriend was contacted about the order and was yelled at because the worker “didn’t understand English?!”This is highly unacceptable and I will never order from this racist, inappropriate establishment. We shouldn’t be treated like this because we are American! OUTRAGEOUS!

Got the pork pot stickers and mala beef with green beans. The bread portion of the pot stickers was so doughy it was a struggle to pull apart, and the pork was flavorless. The mala beef was probably 1:4 beef to green beans, and there was only 10-15 pieces of thin stringy beef. There was no “tasty brown sauce” to be found anywhere in the container or on the food.

The dipping sauce for the pot stickers did taste good on the fried rice which was the only redeeming part of this meal. Overall, the entire meal was a waste of money.

When you ask for General Tso’s Chicken and you get a container with an extreme amount of a running sauce resulting in something more like SOUP… the outcome is sorely disappointed.

What an unpleasant experience. Not to mention costly. 14.95 for lunch!!!

You could have kept the wonton soup. After the “unrequested, unsolicited soup” I did not want to add additional insult to energy. This overall experience was “AWFUL!!!” The only part of the encounter that could be loved upon favorably was the general disposition of the host/server.

Such a waste of time and money.

This place has been my go to for years. After tonight’s experience I’ll never eat there again. General Tso’s chicken was raw, pink, & undercooked. Crab Rangoon cream cheese was either missing, or leaked out during frying. Just empty shells. Chicken Lo mein bit into something very hard that could’ve chipped a tooth if it landed right. Chicken egg rolls didn’t look like pics. Nasty lumps of processed meat all clumped together that fell out with no veggies. Called the restaurant. They blamed Doordash. Asked me to bring it back. I couldn’t, & told them it was food quality/cooking issues. They wouldn’t take any responsibility, left me on hold, & didn’t come back to the phone. $50 wasted. Don’t eat here.
